Yeah, they are the most popular vehicle in Uzbekistan right now and have been for a very long while. It is a badge engineered Daewoo, which started as a badge engineered Suzuki with an enlarged engine (800 cc instead of 600). It can seat 6-8 people for the van version.

Not to mention that it is RWD, body on frame, manual only and some have a low range gear. There is what a pickup version called the Labor, which was introduced in 2015.

Labo

Also, they are trying to replace it with picrel, but are failing miserably to do so and are remarketing the replacement as a trade van like a Transit or Doblo/ProMaster City (except smaller). These also seat 6-8 people, but only cargo versions will be sold after UzAuto (GM Uzbekistan) lost 27% revenue in H1 2025 along with a debunked scandal concerning the 2025 Malibu.

?
Why does it look like 1985
Anonymous No.28569051 >>28569510
>>28569045
Reference >>28569042, but I will add that the original Suzuki that it was based on came out in 1985 (picrel for that version). The Daewoo came out in 1992 and this version came out in 1996. The Bedford Rascal is also related, but it has a 1L engine.

Not to my knowledge, but I think there might be mods, former Soviet Union mechanics are known for their mods and their ability to fix totalled cars.
>>28569251
The replacement is built in the Wuling plant, but the Damas is made in Uzbekistan and based off of a Daewoo.
>>28569318
Yes, but not really that comparable. A minivan would be a luxury to send these people. Maybe a Dustbuster or U-body that made it over can be had, but it would likely be fairly expensive still.

I should say that your options for cars in Uzbekistan are Lada, UAZ, UzAuto/GM and in the last couple of years some Chinese electric cars have come onto the market, even then, the government is discouraging people from electric and instead recommending LPG or CNG as fuel, of which there are stations across to country to refill. You need your Damas modified for that, but again, former Soviet Union mechanics will do it for you.

Yeah, and it costs around $7k compared to the $15-$20k John Deere gator that can't legally even drive on roads, has no AC, and no power steering either.

Blame the insurance companies.
They were the ones who pushed for government safety and crashworthiness regulations.

It's worse than that. The OG 970cc made 44hp (although was actually quite torquey) but the new variants with the 796cc engine makes...38hp.

0-60 takes 40 seconds and it won't even reach 70.

Nah piece of piss m8
The main trouble I've had is getting the engine in and out, I've had to come up with a technique for lowering the engine and trans out the bottom together.
Engine crane out the top is basically impossible.
