I'm thinking about getting a Honda Fit. Found one a few hours away at a good price, but it's a 2015 ex with a little over 90k miles. I have read it's not a great year for Fits because it's when they switched to cvts. Are they really that bad? This one had a transmission fluid change at 70k miles and was well serviced according to carfax, so I'm pretty safe right? Looking to get 100-150k miles on whatever I buy.

The Fit gets great gas mileage and has a ton of interior space relative to other compacts and you're a fag if you don't like it.

Shit is too expensive. I want to get one as a side car , but no good deals and way too high mileage.

I got a 2007 that’s a little crusty for $3900. Has 138k miles. I’ve done an oil and filter change, transmission fluid, and topped up coolant. Did an interior detail too since the PO was a smoker. All in I’m about $4300. So far so good, gets 30mpg consistently. It’s slow AF and can’t really pass people on the highway, or merge unless there’s a lot of room to speed up. Also for some reason it misfires during startup but only when I leave work…

To OP - I don’t know anything about the CVT’s but I trust Honda to make a reliable vehicle. If it runs fine and doesn’t do anything weird I reckon you’d be ok. Maybe change the cvt fluid again 10k miles after you buy it

Pic related is my blue shitbox Fit

I've only driven a 2020 (auto) and liked it well enough. not sure if it's the same CVT as the 2015, but it's a peppy car for what it is and more space than you'd get from anything else in the subcompact space. also decent looking and I think it'll age well. 90K is getting up there but if the owner(s) kept up maintenance you should get to 150K+ easily

>I have read it's not a great year for Fits because it's when they switched to cvts. Are they really that bad?

You are wrong, my 2009 Fit has a CVT and so do all the ones that I know of.

>This one had a transmission fluid change at 70k miles and was well serviced according to carfax, so I'm pretty safe right?

Well I bet that is a partial change, not a full flush. I did the same to my car when I bought it at 99k miles. I also changed the inline transmission filter. I'm actually surprised it would be even flushed at 70k miles. Maybe it did have a problem or the dealer was doing unneeded work. 100k is when they say to do it.

>Looking to get 100-150k miles on whatever I buy.
My 2009 has 120k miles. Biggest worry is winter salt corrosion. Everything else is just basic maintenance. A few little tricks here and there help.

I have a 2011 automatic. The things I see being issues with the 2014 and newer cars are not necessarily the CVT but the "earthdreams" engine that is direct injection and eats itself. Go browse the fit forms and view the nightmares.

Since you are only trying to hit 100k or 150k miles the one your looking at will probably do that fine but it wont last as long or as good as the originals or second generation ones.

On a personal note it can fit 8ft 2x10 lumber inside and I bolted on 2 inch trailer hitch to mine.

>eat shit trugg owners I actually haul stuff.

Thanks for that information. I haven't checked forums, but that's a good idea. And I was unclear, but whatever I get I want to add another 100-150k miles to, so the 93k mile 2015 could potentially do it, but maybe I shouldn't push my luck.

And your description of storage and hauling stuff is exactly why I became interested in the fit. Seems really versatile.

There's a reddit (i hate reddit so much it is unreal) that is called "it fits in a fit" full of all the wild things people have crammed into the car.

I use a harbor freight trailer and it gives me a 4'x8' space to haul stuff. The max rating is 1000lbs including driver + trailer + cargo
