Alfa Giulia
hello br/o/s, i'll preface this by saying that in my country there's a decent assistance network and parts are available for it, so that's not an issue. i'm looking at a 2018 veloce model, awd with the 2.0 turbo petrol engine and the zf8hp tranny, 50k km. they're asking 28k evronis for it. i've heard good things about the transmission but i'm not sure about the engine. what do you guys think?

engine is fine. Replace the battery with a lifepo4 one, replace the relays in the front wheel well, and put an LSD from a QV into it (plug n play basically).
I'd also stock up on spare parts, because they're stupid cheap right now.

interesting, i'm not familiar with it but there's one listed for 28k: awd, 55k kms, 2.0d i4 mhev S. why would i want to pick this over the alfa? is it more reliable?

also holy shit, 28,000 euros for a 2018 veloce is insane. Just get a base spec and tune it, they sell for less than 10k euros here all day long (20,000km one is for sale here for 12k euros)
Anonymous No.28573389 >>28574109
>>28573238
i wish they were that cheap here. they go for 20-25k without the tuning factored in. i could get it imported from somewhere else, but not being able to check the car or get it inspected by a mechanic before buying it is a big no-no for me.

that's also pretty funny

I've owned a 2L and currently own a QV, only issues I've had were the factory run flats are prone to bubbling. post-2020 is more reliable than pre-2020 and also includes port and direct injection.
for 28k make sure it has the mechanical rear LSD, which is more desirable than an electric LSD in my experience and the only thing I didn't like about the QV compared to the 2L

Looks nice.
If you will dedicate your life to owning an old car you could get a nice one.

they need one improvement, which is sold pretty readily. for some reason the actuator arm never got bearings, so you pretty much need to buy an arm with bearings if you plan to keep it

My dad bought a 2018 new and had it until the end of last year. Never had any real trouble with it and only sold it because his needs changed.

I have a 2021 and my only issue is tire bubbling from the shitty road. Got non RFT and no issues so far with those.

thats not the same as maintaining a car but I agree. the diverter valve internals are also weak on most cars. Spark plugs, oil changes, clean airfilter, checking for boost leaks. All of that needs to be done more often than n/a cars. There is alot more involved with owning a turbo car and keeping it tip top.

I donโ€™t need it. itโ€™s unnecessarily heavy and complex.
The Alfa AWD system is amazing though, Iโ€™ll give em that.
itโ€™s 100% RWD unless the front tires lack traction

It's RWD most of the time unless you're starting from stop or slipping. It's pretty nice. I put some pirelli all weathers on mine and it's amazing in as a winter beater. We only get around 30 inches of snow though. I use a coupe with summers most of the time though.

28-year old Tahoe can do the same
What exactly is complex and amazing in Alfa's system?
