Why aren't electric cars cheap yet? It's just a big battery with an exceptionally simple electric motor and drive train. How come an equivalent ICE is still atleast 10k cheaper new? Electric vehicles are weird, they should be the best budget cars out there but are instead premium vehicles.

Copper is expensive.

EV retard sees a toy RC car and thinks its simplicity applies to a 5000 pound real car

They're truly the dumbest people and don't understand the thing they shill

pic related your complicated ass tesla drivetrain

That graphic is simply treating every EV component as a blackbox while the engine gets picked apart down to the last o-ring. Do the same for the EV and it'll start to look less charming with all these battery cells etc.
Speaking of which, those cost more than a valve-cover bolt. And there's a LOT of them.
Treating the whole battery as a single part is only kind of justifiable because chances are manufacturers won't sell you spare components for it anyways.
Batteries will keep the cars expensive for the foreseeable future, at least if you're not willing to drive something with only an hour of autonomy and really slow charging. This is not because of some evil plot but because basic chemistry means they need to be made out of a whole bunch of material and that stuff is expensive.

Australian satan is right but even RC cars are not that simple. These fags don't know how shit about power electronics, they can't explain what a transistor is, not even speaking about how to make one. How many EV tards disassembled brushless motors or opened ESCs up? I bet the number of parts is comparable to what nitros have even without desoldering all SMD stuff from the boards.

Electric motor and single-speed reduction gear, where complicated?
Ethernet cable is also complicated, because it has more than 2 wires, shielding, insulation etc,?

Don't some higher-category twisted pair cables feature shielding around the bundle or even the individual wires?
Frankly the attempts to get increasing amounts of bandwidth on that shit medium are starting to feel a bit desperate, but there are some variations of that cable that at least try.

Now take apart a tesla battery pack and count the components.
Don't forget the cooling/heating system for the battery pack also.
>hint:
An EV actually has MORE components than an ICE vehicle.

lol you don't even know what you're looking at

this same faggot would point to that planetary gearset as LE complicated if it was an an ICE vehicle

btw you want more insanely overcomplicated EV systems to laugh at?

check out the required cooling on an EVs batter

Cheap EVs are coming. By 2030 EV equivalent will be significantly cheaper to buy and own than ICE.

you already missed the detail where pairs of wires are twisted in a precise way
you're definitely oversimplifying electric motors in your mind as well

The battery is like $10k+, as in the cheapest EV's battery is like $10k, and they only go up from there.

ev has short range (less than 100 miles) only way to get good range is to make them heavy, ergo they are now land barges.

Not true at all, the only number that is greatly reduced is the amount of parts that you (You) can replace or service. As usual, they're fucking you in the ass and asking you to be grateful for it...and you can be, but it'd be pretty gay.
