Then it depends on your monthly expenses. It would be ideal to put at least 1 year's worth of expenses into an emergency fund in case you lose your job or whatever. Also depends on your future expenses- if you are moving out soon, your expenses will go up and you need more safety cushion and can afford less car. If it were me, I would keep around $5k in my checking account, put $20k into a money market fund that's set aside to be my emergency fund, put $15k into long term stock investments like an index fund, and then probably spend the rest of the $10k on the car.

NTA but I was (and kind of still am) in a similar situation, bought a $20-30k fun car, and don't regret it at all 3 years later. I have basically no monthly expenses so it was only 2-3 months worth of stock investments. After 25 years, assuming I continue my current investment plan/trajectory but bought a $10k shitbox instead, I'd be worth 10.8m instead of 10.75m. Not exactly a life-changing difference financially, but definitely a life-changing difference in automotive fun.
