Half of all the roadster classes are flatties. Hell, some teams like the Bean Bandits are flathead only. Few years back they had a rear-engine modified roadster with a hot-vee flathead, chain drive, running on straight alcohol.

Bean Bandits, these guys are Speedweek Royalty. Jeff Arnett is one of the old school racers out here, this is one of their rare non-flathead entries. They got me hooked on land speed racing and my first year was free because of these guys.

This humble-looking VW Passat went 242mph and is the G/BGC class record holder, he is only a small bore and stroke from being in my class.

These C4's are pretty popular these days, you can pick them up for pennies on the dollar and go race Bonneville with them. One of these I believe went 260mph. One of them this year had the ZR1 LT5 in it.
