How often do you work on your vehcile?
The faggot who lives next to me spends 4 hours a day on his shitty mazda and bike.
Every night I have to listen to it.
He's not restoring anything, just constantly fucking with it.
I am not a wrenchcel, but I cannot imagine that this is remotely necessary or even good for either of the vehicles - or that he is getting anything done besides making autozone shareholders richer.

If they're both pieces of shit then they will both need a lot of work to keep them limping along so he can go to work. If the bike is tracked/race it will require much more frequent service as well as repair, because racing vehicles breaks them much more often.

You should grab some beers and go hang out with him while he works on it instead of being a woman

There's tons of wrench fags that like to take shit apart and put it back together. There a chink in my apartment complex who is constantly working on a pos Passat wagon. Maybe it's a way to get away from the wife, who knows.

autozone, although they fucked me over by making me drive out a long way to get a part that didn't actually fit, gave me an instant refund, no questions asked, within 5 mins of being in the store. they didn't even bother checking the part, anything could've been in that box. rock auto (suck hard cock auto) forces me to buy the postage inorder to send a return in, and holds my shit in postage limbo for more than a month. not to mention, they are also liable for the same mismatched parts.

i wish i had a wrenching neighbour to shoot shit and help tinker with. soundd very comfy. although there's someone on the other side of my block that seems to have some nice cars

i find that with rockauto you have to be very careful what options you pick during the refund/return process. some options are a point of no return. whenever they gave me a wrong part it let me put in the part number of the wrong item, then they asked me if i wanted a refund, or a replacement etc. i picked the latter and they sent me the replacement free of charge.
i got a speedo cable and it was the wrong length but i goofed and picked a different option, just had to eat the cost of that. still need to put it on ebay for sale.

I know that feel
All those hours and hours of work carefully crafting something you love getting destroyed in an instant by something completely out of your control.
I lost interest in wrenching for like 6 years after my first car got totalled.
Fortunately I've gotten some of the inspiration back since

i can't believe it, rock auto legit just updated my shit and finally let me get a refund (in three business days). not even after an email a week ago would they budge. are they watching bros...

eating the cost of autoparts is hard when you only ever wrench because you're in poverty to begin with. is what it is, at least God is looking down on me.

Currently I don't work on my car at all cause it's got like 30k miles on it and japanese so nothing will break for years.
I may be getting a free 1998 porsche boxster from some boomer at my wife's church when they finally downsize their house and I know that's gonna be a drive it one weekend fix it the next weekend car until I get rid of it.

if something like this does happen, you just build a better car, knowing now how to circumvent the mistakes you made learning on the first one. to me, wrenching is not just a matter of having a showpony to flaunt, but a matter of self sufficiency, that you aren't dependent on help that may or may not come when things inevitably go wrong. you can also become someone else's blessing, creating positive outcomes from stressful situations. if anything, the challenges we face in wrenching alone bring us closer to God. i've faced some stripped screws which only budged when i asked God for help.

It probably looks like I'm working on my vehicles a lot. My vehicles are 20+ years old and I drive them fucking hard so after a hoon sesh or a long road trip I like to pop the hood and/or get underneath and inspect shit.

honestly i find the blow is significantly dampened if i have an idea of what i want to get next should anything ever happen to my current car. especially if it ends up being straight up nicer/comfier to drive, even if it might have a downgrade in some way (e.g. more annoying to get shit in the trunk)

I would have gotten back in the saddle but it's been a mixture of beating my insurance to give me a correct payout and being more concerned with the final stages of uni. Besides, I'm only interested in old jaguars and lotuses at this point and I cannot afford to maintain one.

>How often do you work on your vehcile?
I don't. Unless it's something very minor like changing a bulb I just send it off to the parts monkey for him to waste his time on it. I value my time more than my money.

A lady hit my car while it was parked infront of my house. Insurance tried to only pay for body repair. I just kept calling them asking for a readjustment. I didnt get anywhere for awhile until I called when the agent trying to fuck me over was on lunch and got the manager.Be annoying as fuck anon.

My car is 23 years old so I do preventative maintenance and diagnosing every month at least. There's always two or three issues with the car at a given time but it passes inspection and still runs.
