mf ghost s1 and s2 is a mix which is expected. s3 they jumped full cgi for everything (or worst the MCs are cji and the supporting cast is 2d)

They did that because of the (rather) low budget.
If they decided to animate the races by hand, they would have to wrap everything up by the time Takumi races Nakazato.

But at the very least you could see that they TRIED to make it look cool. A lot of passion went into the original series, regardless of if it's hand drawn conversations or CGI'd races.
MF Ghost is just a soulless "REMEMBER THE AE86? PLS BUY THE GT86!" commercial.
And it's NOT a good commercial.

Discount legal Initial D set in modern times, so there is none. First, Tokyo's highways are barely any wider than the touge, and a lot busier.
Second, Wangan is not just about skill, but even moreso about balls. You can't go fast if you don't have balls.

Definitely no skills required to drive fast IRL or in video games.

In my opinion the whole series wasn't really all about outright racing, but more about the hardships of owning a project car and giving your everything for your hobby.
The races themselves were whatever, it was all the drama surrounding them that made it interesting.
Plus the soundtrack was superior.
