But it's a bit inconvenient unless your motorhome is a van conversion because it's bigger than the cars everything is designed around.

The frame bending in half is due to crash regs. Trucks have the issue of having the bed slam into the cab at high speed crashes and causing secondary crash injuries, so automakers addressed it by engineering a failure point so that the two are separated by forcing them to pivot.

It's a compromise primarily borne of using work trucks as commuter cars.

The company that they based the initial design off, Revcon, kept making them for several more years afterwards. However, I think there are still less Revcons around than GMCs.
They made some Revcons that were longer than any of the GMC models. Up to 34' I think.

I don't even want a RV to sleep in or go camping. The appeal to me is being able to drive like 2-3 hours away to visit friends and have a little apartment they can come out to visit me inside where we play video games without me having to fuck around with their home set-up or drag shit in to set up on their kitchen table. Like a mobile living room I can park in the drive-way and have everything set-up ready to go the second I get there. Or they can meet me half-way and make the drive a lot shorter for me while also getting out of the house for them.

Sorry, at no point is a truck cooler than a van. Trucks, real trucks, are utilitarian. They pick up cool points for care free bopping down the back roads, or up to no good having parties with the tailgate down. Not that pavement princess bullshit. Vans on the other hand are built to be cool, infinitely customizable to the owner's personality. They're at their best not moving at all. Nobody puts wall to wall carpet in a vehicle for practicality. It's creating an atmosphere. It's actually impossible to be upset driving a van. Take the vanpill and you'll never not have one again. Keep the truck; it's great for moving lumber or the deer you shot, but you'll wish you were driving your van.

80k ford transit 4x4 camper and his job was restoration/historical stone masonry.

How to motorhome correctly:

-no full-timing. always have a regular home. full-timing is for weirdos and crazy people.
-never compromise with a tow vehicle or runabout vehicle other than a bicycle. If you can't drive the motorhome to where you want to go then you need to either
a. git gud
b. you don't need to go there that badly right now anyway
-camper trailers are for people who can't git gud or don't want to commit. Go big or go home.

-you don't monetize your motorhoming. YOU DON'T MONETIZE YOUR MOTORHOMING. YOU ARE ON VACATION. VA-CA-TION. Unless you're at work doing something unrelated to RVs like working on scientific research in the field or what-have-you, then you're really cool.

For every person camping on those, there are ten people camping in a national or state campground with a public bathroom nearby, electrical hookups, and the main demographic is upper-middle class white boomers who sit around in lawn chairs telling war stories from their careers and/or their latest "projects".

When I drive down the roads here in rural KY I see a camper in every fourth backyard. Those people are not going anywhere to "rough it". They're going out to the campgrounds (and I use this term broadly) to socialize.

Kek. These are the type of people with no type of "gut-insinct" or commense.
Like who the fuck would combine these two things even in their imagination without getting some kind of natural sense of a warning, or inner voice to say something like, " nah that's a stupid fucking idea"

Tell me the best time I can have with a class A RV. Like what is the absolute best possible trip a person can expect to get out of it if everything goes right. What are people really dreaming about?

Probably go from the base of the US to the tip of Canada (Alaska). A class A without a tow vehicle sort of limits what you can experience though.

Then what's the point of having it? You may as well piss in a jug and not use it at all.

Maybe true for cassette toilets, but black tanks are made with turds in mind. (even though the toilet bowl may not be)
Primary concerns are odor and a potential blockage. both of which can be minimized by using the appropriate chemicals.
and if possible, avoid flushing any toilet paper. buy the special thin scratchy RV toilet paper and pray that you dont have to use it.
Anonymous No.28615931 [Report]
Also, proper rv pooping technique is to squat on top of the toilet, lining your buthole up directly above the valve. and then when you feel your turd about to drop you quickly open the valve so it can drop cleanly down into the tank. "swish"

I'm less concerned with the size of the toilet and more with the smell and the idea that I'm pooping like four feet away from where I cook and sleep. The smaller the RV the worse this would seem to be, to the point you're basically living in the bathroom.

Try living in an apartment or in a house where the bathroom is adjacent to the kitchen or to your bedroom. Same thing, except the walls are a bit thicker.

Shitting where you eat is just part of the RV lifestyle.
Though i do prefer not to muddy my black tank, when its an option i will go outside. ie; i will poop on a piece of firewood then throw that in the fire, then smoke some burgers.

These are super narrow, like several feet narrower than an actual RV. You fit in the parking space, but for what purpose? To fit into parking lots where there literally is only a single space left? How often do you encounter that?
