listn up you american fags

in europe we already have chinese invasion: byd, mg, chery, omoda, jaecoo, beijing, nio, all those funny names

these shitboxes have issues on same level as euro cars but are much cheaper. We noticed that subframes and crucial parts have zero rust protection or even paint. In europe we keep our cars longer with us so if somebody plans to own a car for ~15-20 years then this is a dealbreaker

but for you americans that consider a 5yo car old these would be great. Interiors are comfy, cars look weird but futurustic. And you get rid of them so fast that you wouldn't notice that dangerous rusting

It's pretty easy to make cheap cars when:

1. The Chinese government is paying for all your expenses no questions asked.

2. You only have to pay your wage slaves $5000 a year
https://carnewschina.com/2024/05/20/strike-at-byd-factory-in-wuxi-workers-seek-fair-treatment/

3. China opens a new goal power plant every 3 days because fuck the environment
https://www.carbonbrief.org/chinas-construction-of-new-coal-power-plants-reached-10-year-high-in-2024/

4. You can dump toxic waste wherever because see point 3.

The biggest environmental lobbying group in the West is the Chinese government.

China is attempting the Walmart strategy to take over industry. If they can float their cars in they can destroy competition. Then they jack up prices which simultaneously allows them to correct the problems listed above at the expense of other countries.

It should be pointed out that China itself placed numerous restrictions to keep foreign cars out in order to develop their own auto industry. Up until a few years ago, China had 100% tariffs on imported cars (and still has like 25% tariffs), and required most foreign companies that wanted to build in China to avoid the tariff to "partner" with a Chinese company, which of course is how those Chinese auto companies speed-ran the "how to design and build car" process. So using protectionist measures against Chinese automakers is simply basic tit for tat.

The US has done such measures; there is a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs, for example, which is part of what OP is complaining about, and the US has used tariffs / threats of tariffs to encourage auto makers to set up manufacturing in the US plenty of times in the past (that is why the Japanese automakers set up a bunch of US factories in the 1990s). Tariffs to protect and develop industries work reasonably well, as long as your domestic market is large enough to get enough economies of scale and your local labor force is capable of the task.

The fact that OP doesn't want to admit is that the Chinese dumping push already hit its peak 2 years ago and is now at a steady decline as Europe/US instituted tariffs and canceled most of their EV friendly incentives. >Do they also allow predatory lending practices?
Yes, and they also do that with employment. Let's say you go to work at some factory job. You stay at the company dormitory with many people per room. You get an ADVANCE from the company. Of course there are repayment terms and interest rate.

The employer now delays paying you. You owe money that you cannot pay back since you haven't been paid. You complain but cannot quit as you have no where to go and if you ran off, the police will be after you for violations as well as money owed after the company filed a complaint against you in court. So you have a predatory lending right there.

So you wonder why employees in those chinese news reports don't quit after FOUR, FIVE, and as much as EIGHT months of non payment or only fractional payment? Take a guess.

China can manufacture things in a range of quality. If you want something cheap they can make it cheap. If you want something high quality they can make it high quality. The "IP" being American is not the factor that enables China to produce a high quality product, especially not a power tool. They know how to make a fucking drill. The premium Chinese drill brands aren't exported to the US because Americans want an expensive product to have an English name. But real companies in China use all Chinese products.

Cfmoto motorcycles are a great example of china's current creative and productive power. That company used to just make copies of Japanese bikes, but in the past few years they've been coming up with completely original designs, and they get high reviews.

there's something weird in their cars, at crashes they don't colapse like normal cars

they have a hidden frame or something that limits energy absorption - at crash test videos these cars at first compress like they should be but after wall reaches front wheel - the compression stops.

https://youtu.be/NKR0Pw91rG4?t=27

nobody in europe really knows what's going on because these cars are not tested by european NCAP (your's IIHS). Why we don't test them? Because there's a supercar loophole. If manufacturer sells less than X amount of same model (something like 1000) then they don't have to do the tests and chinese "tests" are enough to have green light for sales.

-but there are thousands of chink cars?
every few months they change the names of sold cars. Today in documents the car is sold as Chinky Steer, tomorrow Chinky Steer-5, friday will be Chinky Steer-5plus

>there's something weird in their cars, at crashes they don't colapse like normal cars
Funnily enough, the Euro NCAP just tested a Chinese MG 3 2025 hatchback. It indeed did not fail like a normal car.
The adjustment mechanism for the driver's seat broke on one side in the frontal collision test and the seat turned in its mountings, smashing the dummy driver's leg.
They are now considering changing their scoring system because they've never seen a structural failure like that in the history of Euro NCAP. They don't have a rule that would penalize the car for that, so the car got 4 stars for its otherwise ok-ish frontal collision performance, fairly good protection in other tests and ticking many random safety feature boxes (which the current scoring probably overvalues).
The airbag also didn't inflate fast enough to prevent the driver's head from touching the wheel through it, though it probably softened the impact somewhat.

What china does is not subsidizing. They just give money with the purpose of reducing production costs. They pay per produced vehicule.
What we do in the civilised world though is just give incentives for car makers to build factories and create jobs.
It's "we'll give you rebates and subsidies to build a factory here so you don't go to mexico/turkey" vs "we are going to just give you money specifically so every car you produce costs 50% less".
