I've been noticing people gesticulating and flipping me off way more than average in the past week, but more confusingly, it's been when they were doing something stupid/dickish

>driving in right lane towards picrel american style roundabout
>clearly marked signs and lanes for which goes where, you're not supposed to/kind of can't switch in the middle
>car in front of me stops at yield sign, so I come up right on his ass
>trundles through, fucking stops and then switches to the left in order to make the left turn/third exit, cutting someone else off
>I power through, annoyed
>fucker is flipping me (and maybe someone else) off out the side window

>driving in right lane behind truck
>am directly beside shitbox
>both going relatively slow, assume truck might be making a turn
>some space to speed up and maybe slip ahead of shitbox
>speed up to do so
>shitbox immediately also speeds up and blocks me from going ahead
>truck turns, as expected
>speed back up
>shitbox maintains speed and cuts me off
>have to make a left soon anyway
>switch lanes and speed past them
>they're glaring out of the window and gesture wildly at me
>give them a thumbs down and go to my left turn lane
>fucker also needed to make that left and jumps behind me

what was the whole point of that bullshit, and why are people just being cunts for what I assume is no reason

There’s no consequences for flipping someone off. If that happened 10 years ago you would follow them home and harass them

Because there's a mental illness epidemic in this country. Everyone's on edge and doesn't know how to properly process their anger.

Also, American driving culture is toxic as fuck and almost every driver sees every interaction with another driver as a contest they have to "win" by being more aggressive than the other guy.
Self-importance is another. Everyone thinks they're more important than everyone else and this gives them the right to weave through traffic, not use their signal, tailgate, etc.

I think i've figured out the stub lanes into the roundabout, the short bits are for your crash and the long bits are for the recovery truck. Genius.

OP's pic is when it was under construction. I think this is the exact same roundabout, it makes a little more sense with the lines painted and no cones etc. Still kinda dumb to drop into an area where people aren't used to regular roundabouts much less these crazy things though, and the accident numbers after it opened show that.

Everywhere is getting more crowded and people have lost a huge amount of purchasing power since 2020 so people in general are less happy. This is just how it's going to be in the modern west where line goes up is all that matters.
