Yeah? It's a Honda. Same power train as the civic. 200 hp and 232 torque, with fake shifting from the eCVT. Uses the suspension from the Type R.

It's just a sporty, swoopy looking, cheap grand tourer.

All they had to do was make a car to compete with the miata and 86. 200 hp is fine but it needed at the minumum a manual option. I know RWD isn't honda's "thing" but come on. This is just pathetic

Who is this even for??
Anonymous No.28603727
They really should not have gotten ride of the civic coupe. The 86 is eating every sports cars lunch and it is all because there is no real competition in the sub-40k new sports car market. Honda tried desperatly to shill the Integra, but failed.

It's just a modern commuter coupe, the type of car most NPC types used to, and should still be driving instead of shit-tier cuckovers.
The problem is that those people don't see coupes as practical anymore, and I don't see Honda even attempting to market this as a "sporty" alternative to your average NPC that would otherwise only be looking at an HR-V/CH-R or whatever shitbox CUV is popular. No manual to satisfy the genuine autists that bought manual Insights and CR-Zs, either.

there are lots of buyers who only care about good looks and driving dynamics, and not so much about having a mt. lots of high end gt cars don't offer manuals for that reason.
it's also much more costly to offer MT and AT options compared to AT only which is what will generally sell better. that's why a lot of manuals don't come until after the AT has been around for a few years, ensuring sustained interest in the car before they can justify developing a manual

This thing is going to flop hard. No one looking at new sport coupes in 2025 wants a CVT. It needs to be a DCT at least and also come with a manual option too. Also, 200hp feels a bit under powered. But worse than that is FWD only. I get the old Prelude was also FWD, but it’s often seen as lame by enthusiasts. The CTR gets a pass from a lot of people, but just barely.

The prelude was a low volume seller: the only market for it is people nostalgic for older models, which sure as shit wasn't the autos. Making it AT only is going to make it compete directly every 200 hp or less FWD shitbox on the market and it will do poorly at that with two doors. If they couldn't afford installing every other car on the production line with one of two transmissions that already exist, then it shouldn't be made to begin with.

It's 200hp for 5 mins and only if you're above 60 mph.
Under 60mph its a 141 hp engine -> generator -> electric motor. Aka massive drivetrain losses.
Above 60mph it's direct clutch engagement to the 141 hp engine.
So really it's max 141 hp of sustained engine power. Hybrids are all deceptive marketing about their "peak for 5 mins" power.

Why the fuck does Honda call it an "ecvt"??? It doesn't have a fucking transmission?
It's an electric motor that connects directly to a differential, there's no CVT or transmission, the most it has is a coupling between the engine and the main drive motor at certain speeds. It's exactly how it works in the civic, accord and CRV. Why the fuck did Honda think calling it an ecvt would make people want to buy it, it literally is false marketing and turns people off even more. Fucking lol.

Nobody cares but nerds. Imagine all you know about transmissions is that a car needs one to move, and Honda says "this car has no transmission". That just sounds like a car that doesn't work.

>The new Prelude doesn't have any modern competitors

Yeah because it doesn't have any customers either. Who the hell wants a coupe that is heavy, slow, a hybrid and expensive as fuck?

Honda marketing is retarded. Because toyota calls their planar transmissions an e-cvt they must also call their direct electric motor e-cvt too.

They know their customers don't know anything about cars. If they did, they wouldn't be paying $10k over MSRP for a basic bitch cuckover.

Actually, I think this is going to sell very well. A lot of zoomers are going to financially ruin themselves on this.

Doubt it. Mexicans love Honda. Weebs love Honda. This car is flashy, even if it's overpriced and underpowered. People are going to buy it.

>b-but what about X car and Y car!
Not Hondas.
