Last week I went from a lightly modified Mk8 Fiesta ST to a Jag XE S
It's obviously a lot faster than the ST but I think the main thing it does better aside from comfort is being able to enjoy it at any speed.
The thing with small zippy le quick not fast cars is that you need to kick the shit out of them everywhere to actually get the rewards.
With the Jag I can cruise around, roll the window down a bit to hear the supercharger whine, and if I want I can turn the traction off and give it some throttle on a roundabout and just enjoy the rotation a bit.

The trick is to buy an old car so you have an excuse for being slow
