She did it because her car his a great story and was in excellent shape, and because she probably couldn't drive it anymore. I have an FD, it's a low car with pretty heavily bolstered seats, I imagine it's not easy for an old woman to get in an out of. I've driven mine after leg day a couple of times and between that and my height it did give me a bit of trouble. I can see it being a difficult car to get in and out of for a weakening older person.

If you're going to buy a rotary you don't want to buy it from someone who babied it, just someone who maintained it well and didn't abuse it. They burn oil as a matter of operation and run rich so they're prone to deposits if not revved out regularly. Interesting. Mine is a 93 base with R1 suspension, brace, oil coolers, etc, so what I have are early poverty car seats. Those seats look like the Alcantara that came in US R1/R2 models. I know you're being facetious, but the process of modern car design is so fundamentally broken that you'll never make a meaningful impact as a single person working in the industry without a complete restructuring of the way we build cars. They're designed piecemeal by committee with input from so many different regulatory bodies that, even as a design lead, your project will pass through so many different hands that it's close to unrecognizable by the time the final mockups are being drawn up.
One of my old friends designed cars for GM and Ford in the 60s and 70s and he talks about how they would have 2-4 artists and an engineer in a room together drawing up a new car and bouncing ideas off each other until they came up with the final design. They would then personally walk over to the modeling department where they would work alongside the modelers until they were happy with the car. It's a lot easier to make a car that looks good when you have a small team of dedicated people working on it, rather than 200 different office drones with their own ideas and concerns that results in ugly cars with no cohesion.

It was already a clean car from what I saw so the restoration will probably be replacing anything that's worn and cleaning it to showroom state since it doesn't look like it needs any paint or body work. "Restore" does not mean "modify" and it never has.
