>Nigsan/Infinity
Nissan Hit or miss. Infinity is good. best RWD platforms of the jap brands. Infinity in general is pretty slept on. no one seems to really talk about their lineup.

boring grocery getters but pretty reliable. type R is ugly ricer shit but decently fun. eg/eks are fun but overpriced. s2k is fun but overpriced. integra is basically the same civics. NSX is unobtanium if you're asking this question.
>infiniti (+nissan)
Zs, S chassis, and Skylines are good. Everything else is nigger-tier trash. Pretty good reliability. 350/370/nuZ are all very similar cars that are sadly mostly driven by mexicans, but are actually solid GT cars.
R32-34 are good but overpriced as fuck
G35/37 (these are included in skylines) are good but again very mexican and hard to find in manual
s13-15 are overpriced but the best drift cars on the planet
>mitsubishi
Evo is the only good car they made and are overpriced with nonexistant part availability. 4g63 is unkillable and pretty reliable, the rest of the fleet sucks. 3kgt is heavy and unreliable, eclipse is gay, everything else is shit.
>mazda
All miatas are good. Protege5/Mazda 3s are good. Very reliable and fun. All their rotary powered cars are cool but overpriced and fuck no for reliability. Rx8 is the worst of the bunch but actually makes a decent drift car.
>subaru
Keep it stock. WRX gets worse every single generation. Decent reliability IF YOU KEEP IT STOCK. Stop fucking modifying your subaru.
Only NA engines in the early 2000s had the head gasket issue people parrot endlessly.
>suzuki
who? Samurai/jimny is cool but kind of expensive and awful for road use, okay reliability. Not sold in the US outside of motorcycles. Older stuff is all shit outside of the samurai.

Toyota really is the GOAT for fun and grocery getters and reliability.

Toyota is not really that great anymore, they're riding off a reputation their 80s-90s cars had.

Honda tries but still isn't even much better than nu-toyota.

Subaru has made their cars incredibly slow and they're inherently not too reliable because of the boxer engines and CVTs. A big issue is these Jap brands are being forced to change their old reliable tech to make fuel economy regulations, so the new tech isn't as reliable. In Subaru's case, their boxer engines were never reliable so they decided to just underpower the shit out of them so they wouldn't blow head gaskets, and now that they also have CVTs for cost savings/fuel economy boost, they have to make sure that doesn't blow up too. The point of the boxer engine was to have a fun car, now that they're slow there's no reason for the less reliable engine. They need to switch to online engines and boost their speed up again.

Mazda is almost Nissan tier but dresses their cars up nicely. The worst part is their programming, they're definitely having retarded jeets program their cars because it's awful. From having to go through multiple menus to change the radio station, to your required automatic braking safety bullshit detecting a car in the lane next to you and auto slamming on the brakes. There's a 0% chance I'd ever buy anything from Mazda again, that's how comically bad they are. They at least hold onto old tech, they still have traditional automatic transmissions and boost up their engines a bit so they can be fun cars, just don't expect quality. It's a Nissan dressed up in a sleazy suit.

Nissan is just pure shit, don't bother even though they have cheap models. They blow up.

And both Toyota and Honda FULLY cuck to the new regulations, unlike Mazda who at least try to remain fun and functional. Subaru too, at least still having high-ish ground clearance and AWD speak to their adventurous roots. But don't expect shit out of a Goyota or Honda, you're gonna get ugly slow gay CVTslop. The hybrids are zippier than a normal engine but you pay out the ass for them and your car loses value by the thousands much quicker as those batteries wear down. Don't be tricked by their bullshit marketing, you barely even save money on gas which only costs around a thousand a year (do the math) to lose thousands initially and in the long run. Hybrid is a scam and CVTs are designed to break.

>Hybrid is a scam and CVTs are designed to break.
Both Honda and Toyota hybrid "eCVTs" have very little in common with the usual mechanical belt CVT thing. If the inverter board doesn't fry or something, the hybrid motor-generator box might last a million miles with fluid changes.
I suppose the battery's still something you might have to deal with in 10-20 years.

And yeah, the Japanese could definitely use more creativity in dealing with the regulations. They're not doing such a bad job with emissions, but almost all Japanese cars have horribly annoying implementations of the now-mandatory Euro safety & driver assist crap.
At least most Euro brands have realized that nobody likes them and have made them as subtle as possible, as well as providing a quick way to turn them off. Maybe the Japanese will figure that out 5 years from now.

Not really a thing here. They tried to introduce their belt CVT thing (Multidrive?) in my country around 2010, but it never became popular, and people just kept buying manuals until Prius-style hybrids took over.
Mechanical CVTs are very rare here now. I tried searching used car ads for non-hybrid automatic Toyotas, but almost all of the results were actually hybrids that had been tagged wrong.

2026 Rav4 is all hybrid with ecvt. They will not be making fully gas cars or standard transmissions in that vehicle until it proves to be a mistake and hurts sales. It likely won't because normies are retarded and buy slop.

The Corolla Cross is likely the same story. Never even considered that POS because it's a 2.0 and they all have CVTs. They're likely going to all be hybrid soon too.

It’s a nicely rebadged Honda car with pseudo-luxury. I mean, a $60K FWD-biased car with those qualities is just asking for too much. This is why the TLX flopped. Interesting. They're some of the most overpriced cars still available in parts of Yurop.
Maybe a bit more decent than some other makers' applicances, but 40-50k for a sub 150 hp cuckover with no service network or parts availability is not exactly cheap.
Not sure if they even sell anything besides their mediocre hybrids here any more. There was that one half-Chinese EV, but it was dead on arrival due to terrible efficiency, generally outdated tech and fucking retarded design decisions (nice job putting the charging port low in the front where it's guaranteed to freeze shut in the winter).

You are right that they're slow, but you are wrong about the reason. That reason being that Subarus are sold to old people.

There's two kinds of Subaru buyers, the stereotype of the vape smoking asswipe who abuses his WRX and mods it into uselessnes, and old white people who just want a car they can use to go to the supermarket in their retirement.

Out of those two groups of customers, who do you think buys new cars? It's not the vapefags, they have no money after sinking it all into modding this "gently used" bugeye, cause bugeyes are the best Subaru according to these asswipes. It's the old white middle class people buying Outbacks.

I don't think they sell the Mirage sedan in Europe. Mitsubishi does sell some smaller cars here, but pretty sure they're all rebadged Renaults or Nissans now.

The Mirage's safety record might have something to do with it being originally designed as a budget commuter car for developing markets.

Japanese Reliability? It's completely determined if they even make the essential parts for your car anymore. A car is useless if the door hinges and windows are bad. The suspension control arm bushings and rack pinion can't be replaced along with the monotube-like shock/spring. Or that none of the parts on your car are standardized, compared to 5 different automotive brands from different continents. Right now my Soarer is falling apart because of that problem. The only way for a real J-Vin Japanese car to be reliable is to buy another one after 20 years. That is why you don't see many Japanese classics without standardized replacement parts like Dorman, and AC Delco.

I had two subarus, one of them with the wet paper tissue headgasket engines. that one lasted me 180K without a single issue until I lost it in an accident.

I've had a few different shitboxes since, but when I had saved enough money to graduate from 5K to 25K-ish shitboxes, I knew what brand I was going to for a CPO vehicle, Had it for 7 years already, just over 100K, and I'm hoping it'll last me for another 100K
