Mine shows almost zero rpm on the tach, regardless of actual rpm. Everything else works fine. Any idea what could cause that?

Probably a solder job that has failed, those gauges were soldered on at the factory, not crimped. If no CEL is on, then it should just need a new tachometer, or even just a wire replacement and a new solder job on the instrument cluster's circuit board.

Seeing how the other instruments work, that is not too bad, but the contacts will need to be cleaned and this could be a three handed job depending on how you tackle it.

I would still scan your car before looking behind the dash, look for CEL Code 12, in case your CEL is not working, if that code is returned, you need a new distributor RPM sensor..

I am more of a 90s Honda/Acura guy, but I know the XV10s fairly well.

Kek. Those new Nissans are not as horrible as what people meme about, but that does not mean that they are great cars, by any stretch of the imagination.

They are by no means a Honda or Toyota, but if you have one with a CVT (which, let's face it, is 99% of the Nissans being sold right now), then you need to change out the tranny fluid every 10k miles, not every 60k like a Toyota or Honda, combine that with the average Nissan owner and that is a recipe for failure like you see.

To make matters worse, Nissan made maintenance a bitch to do though (I dread changing the cabin air filter as they placed it in an area that is near impossible to work on, since the glove box gets in the way), so it definitely would not be my first choice, still better than how Ford's maintenance solution for replacing a starter on the new F-250s, which deserves a place in the shitty design hall of fame (the cab needs to come off in order to access it).

>t. father bought a 2017 Maxima new and now it has 75k miles on it with no sign of tranny issues, I will keep people posted if the tranny decides to 41% itself.

anon is only right about the v6 oil filters; at least on the 3vzfes, the oil filter is closer to the fan shroud so it's a bit tight. but the biggest annoyance is that it's angled perfectly such that when you loosen it, oil comes dribbling out and making a mess if you're not prepared

Sedans are an obsolete body form. Don't you have any hobbies at all? Never buy or transport furniture, washing machines or a lawn mower? Why drive such a long ass car when it can fit less stuff then a Golf. You're not a taxi driver, get a wagon/hatchback, or at least a fucking liftback.

Can you just spend $100 on a few spare sensors and never have to worry about it?
Anonymous No.28626467
>>28626449
Chances are, probably, but $100 is much too low. If you are buying new parts, the VSS is $250. You can always buy used or go to a junkyard/pink-n-pull, but you run the risk of getting a faulty part, anyway.

these things are so reliable and easy to work on. You'd have a hard time coming up with a reason other than vanity. They used these in group-type racing in the past.
>give me a single good reason to drive anything else
safety maybe, as these were just tin-cans. The rusty housing of those airbags and dash components won't do you any favors either when faced with behemoth-sized cars in today's world. It's also slow in acceleration, braking and handling. You'd be outpaced by a modern mom-SUV or van. That says much. Even the new TRD Camry is quite fast and is sporty by today's standard.

>while being 100x more practical
a sudden slight hard steering in one direction will send it to a death rollover crash. Be less of a retard. With your smoothbrain logic, an EV sedan like a Tesla would be far more practical.
>Sedans are useless.
Infact, most major manufacturers today of sports cars would not exist had they not sold sedan-like cars.

>tesla

I am going to say that I disagree with Suburbanfag more because it is not a reason to drive something else, more just an alternative which is worse on fuel, which hurts the practicality in my opinion (an S10 Blazer would be better, I still see tons and they are fairly well built having had a Jimmy myself), but you are a total airhead for suggesting a Tesla by principle that it is a modern car which takes a relatively new skillset to work on, not to mention expensive spare parts. Maybe in 2040, but for now, the answer is no.
