I briefly owned a logitech wheel but I was so paranoid of breaking it I didn't like using it....
Has a single person broken their wheel by torqueing it off too hard? I'm sure on the really fancy setups like direct drive it's impossible

in fact the logitech wheel is designed such that breaking it this way is more or less impossible. the rotation stop is just a plastic rack in the bottom of the wheel that isn't connected to anything, and is in fact the source of loose plastic clattering sound you hear when the wheel vibrates, usually referred to as "logiquake".
the pinion attached to the actual steering wheel goes through the FFB gearbox to rest on the geared rack, so when you hammer the rotation stop you're not actually damaging anything. even if you somehow manage to crank the wheel over hard enough to pop the rack out from under the pinion, you can just open the wheel up and put it back in place as there is nothing to break. these things are incredibly tough.

If it was a model with a plastic encoder wheel (DFGT/G25/G27) then that probably was going to break first due to a shaft heating up and cracking it. So I guess it'd be good to play in short sessions but a replacement is 15 euros (30 for a brass one that won't break) so I wouldn't do that.

the plastic encoder wheel on the g25 breaks due to heat causing the motor pinion it rests on to expand and crack the encoder. the encoder axle is entirely separate from the wheel stop pinion, it comes off one of the motors inside the ffb gearbox while the rotation stop is physically connected to the wheel hub. after g25 they beefed up the molding on this part and switched to a hall effect sensor instead of an optical one.

I had a good race at Road Atlanta with the Mazda 787B.
Perhaps the first time I ran that car at max spec, given the WTC 800 and 700 grind races.
The Skyline Special Event was tricky, using an R32 that had basically no front end. Won it on the last lap.

Car pack is up on the doc for the Mille Miglia Event tomorrow (as is the track pack - which you need a password for that is released tomorrow slightly before the event but pre-download it so you have it). I've put up a test server on the Nordschleife for you to try out your car or someone elses if you feel like it and to confirm all my settings are working as intended.

REMEMBER FOR BOTH TRACK AND CAR PACK TO INSTALL MANUALLY WITHOUT THE HELP OF CONTENT MANAGER! IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU OVERWRITE ANYTHING YOU MAY HAVE INSTALLED ALREADY!

If you have not tried to connect to this yet to test if everything works for you, please do. We will not wait for someone turning up on race start with checksum errors because they didn't test. I have accidentally forgotten a car in the car pack like the retard I am, so please AFTER installing the car pack above, the link in the "Last Minute Patch Space" on the doc.

Password for the track pack releases in about 3 hours (an hour before the race). Servers will go up very shortly before the race, or i may simply not put them up until the leg is ready to avoid anyone migrating over before everyone is done and times are locked.

Note prescence on mumble is mandatory (even if you don't talk) so you can hear me reiterate the rules you have to follow for the stages because stages are different.

Beer is encouraged (mine is ready in the fridge)

I mean I started trying iracing in about 2019 and spent a couple years really doing my, limited capabilities, best at being a good racer. I drove on iracing before, during and after the 'Vid. Things were better between '20 and '22. Then due to parts breakage and limited budget I had about a year off, then another year off as I just got sick of the drivers. I'm back again and what I see is fucking astounding.
Some of the things I've seen across about 15 races this week:
Note: I primarily only do indy fixed oval. It's my autism satisfier. Don't know why.

Anyways as I said, yes the drivers are shit. It's a consequence of a publicly open, world reaching internet game. Yes you'll constantly have people who drive like dick, have no sight of the long term race goal, and slow everyone down.

Save your tires for the first 10-15 laps, be judicious, and take what you gain or lose with some dignity. The top 2% winners are almost all using hack cheats anyways. Just drive to enjoy racing.
