Typically the-look-at-the-phone crashes are done when just cruising through traffic and not doing anything in particular. Not flooring it and blasting past traffic or in this case, flying up behind traffic.

This is why I only ride rural back roads and trails. I usually don't pass more than 5 total cars in an hour of riding. It's a damn shame because motorcycles are so fun and based. It'd be nice if more people could ride them everywhere. But it's a tough sell with drivers like this on the road.

Sure, in a vacuum, but in the context of flooring it, going 118 mph and presumably continuing to accelerate it's bizarre that she apparently saw the vehicle ahead and just didn't do anything and chose to just change the song.

That's why I think she must be retarded. Because typically when fucking around and flooring it you're pretty locked in and paying attention because you're ACTIVELY doing something. Flooring your car and just not paying attention and not really caring about your surroundings is bizarre.

The road is rarely an actual problem, especially when you're talking about a 50 ft wide highway. It's almost invariably other cars. Particularly because speeding alone with nobody around you only put yourself at risk.

Think about it like this, if there is zero other cars on the road and it's 50 ft wide. You could ignore the lanes entirely and use the entire road and go 200+ mph on most highways and freeways.

I get that, but I've seen too many animals, potholes, and obstacles barely outside of my headlights at night to drive at a serious rate of speed. If the road were illuminated with streetlights then sure, whatever, but I wouldn't just trust my high beams.
As for driving with other cars, yeah "swimming" is subhuman-tier reckless driving unless you're a suicidal biker. If the roads were similarly empty, though, I'd prefer to drive during the day.
The real problem with speeding is that it's a compounding factor when considering intersections, blind corners, and distracted/drugged/retarded driving, but those are inherently dangerous and lead to tons of crashes even at residential speeds so it's just a matter of lethality.
