I'm in my first year so I'm just getting experience. I actually like OTR and will probably do it for a few more years but I'm actively looking for companies that will pay me better than what I'm making now so I can make the jump ASAP. I'll end up making about 56k this year pre-tax and taking home 35k all said and done.
Eventually I'll get something regional or on a dedicated route or get on with walmart or if I'm really retarded I'll be an O/O but for now I'm just grinding. Home life is shit as well, I'm effectively homeless, so that plays into it too.

It has its moments. You just don’t need to be a cynical retard who fell for the money meme, when you get into trucking.
The pay is going to be shit, especially during your first couple of years, so if you get into trucking with this knowledge, you will see the other benefits in trucking.
We all know, as truck drivers, that most days are going to be boring and/or shitty. We just need to make the best of it and if you’re a sucker for scenic landscapes of all sorts, then traveling the country as a trucker makes up for the shitty pay and lifestyles we have to endure with our jobs.

Lowkey i kinda want to try out trucking as a job. I dont have anything really tying me down at home, family is alright, no gf/wife for now, my friends are here but i only see them a couple times a year cause the trajectory of our lives diverged after uni.
Problem is I dont know how to get started, looking at job boards i cant find anything within my province that doesnt already need 3+ years of experience.
I also understand getting trained and certs is an investment but dumping 10k just to get started is a fierce hit to my limited funds cause im already getting fucked by student loans from my engg degree.
Also seeing these jeets come in, get cdls from shoddy schools, and cause accidents might hurt my chances at getting hired as a person who was born and raised in this country(leafland) while brown myself.

Don’t know what to tell you, man. I’m a white American who went to a mega-sponsored trucking school, through a $7000 loan that my employer is paying every month until it’s paid off or my employment is terminated. While I felt the training was adequate enough for me to get on the road (they don’t teach you everything, though), not everybody is going to grasp what the school teaches you.
Getting started in trucking (training and/or employment) is going to be tough and the pay isn’t going to be worth it, especially if that’s the main reason you’re getting into trucking. Getting employed through a mega carrier will ensure that everything but necessities will be taken care of for you, so any sustenance, showers, parking, and any extra fluids or equipment you get for the truck comes out of your pocket. Maybe you can get reimbursed for your expenses, but then again they may refuse, especially if you sign up for Per Diem.

In the US you'd pretty much have to look at the OTR megas since you'd be a newb and in that case what state you're in doesn't matter. Well, unless the mega has a ban on hiring in that state because it's difficult to get load in and out of which mean it's hard to arrange home time for the driver. Florida and Montana are two that are frequently on No-Hire lists. Some won't hire from North Carolina for similar reasons. Probably something same thing going on in Canadia.
Try to find some sort of government subsidy. Failing that find what mega up there is offering training for the CDL and they'll send you to the CDL mill that they use. Yes, you'll have to pay back but I did the same and didn't really notice it but my carrier was reasonable to work for. Note that in the US it's a thing with insurance companies that they want to see drivers be accredited by a school that had at least 160 hours of instruction. Less leads to drivers not be insurable and therefore not a candidate for hiring. Can't be much different up there I'd think.
Then get at least a year in and then find something to specialize in like Heavy Haul.

I get minor violations all the time. My carrier doesn't care if the violation is under 30 minutes. I caught a roadside inspection going along US-70 through arkansas and had a 7 minute violation a few days before. Officer asked me "what caused you to drive 7 minutes over on thursday?" and I told him, long wait at the intersection before the truck stop, and a few of those minutes were on the truck stop parking lot getting parked. He shrugged and said alrighty then, and let it slide. My experience is they will be reasonable about very small violations. Sometimes, as with all law enforcement interactions, you are going to get officer McCactusDildo who is just going to shit on you because he can.

Once you get a years experience with a clean record you can start making better money than that. Get 2-3 years and you can be clearing six figures after taxes. It's only slave labor for the first part largely because insuring you is wildly expensive because the odds are you fuck a bunch of shit up or hurt somebody in the first 1-6 months. Hell you can go drive a garbage truck for waste management and make 80-90k before taxes and get hella bennies and I think even stock options if you don't wanna do OTR/Regional or Dedicated.

Ive actually got a career path now, and while some (white collars, keyboard jockeys, crabs in the bucket etc) may turn their nose up at it the rate of growth can be enormous. I went from $30k/y to $80k/y in one job swap and I intend to do it again once I get more experience and accolades, but then again I could lay the truck on its side trying to dodge a crackhead and have it be all over before the next day so who really knows. Unless the oldheads are trying to teach you something, do not listen to them, I've found a vast majority of guys have a shit attitude about the whole thing and are unwilling to see the good cause X or Y happened or are living in the past and unwilling to see today. Then when my night was done, I had front row parking all the time because all the day walkers and solar powered drivers were gone.

I have no problem running the north east as far as skill and safety are concerned. But I'm not gonna do it for what works out to being 15$ an hour if I'm at full speed on the highway at the limiter, which almost never happens in this part of the country. I did 320 miles today and averaged 31.6mph, which means after taxes I'm making 7.50$ an hour. To drive a semi and take on all that risk and liability and deal with yankee assholes. Fuck that shit.
>>28641452
Our company is fucking retarded and only wants us working during the day so I can't run nights unless my first day of the week is cut short and I take my 10 early, which fucks me, because they only want us running Monday through Friday and only run critical shit on the weekends. Which also means I'm eternally fucked for parking. I am restricted to only doing my job in the worst possible conditions to do it in which means I make the least amount of money possible for the most amount of stress possible. So the answer is easy, I'm not going north of Pensyltucky or east of OldBayland anymore until I'm at a real company that doesn't force their drivers to do things the hardest fucking way possible.
The south very fucking much is not just new england but with browns either, the roads aren't made for horse carriages and there's actually parking available even at the worst times of day. You can reliably do 500-600+ miles a day even running during the daytime during the work week in a truck limited in the 60's. You cannot do that in the northeast in those conditions without being on paper logs and driving outside of the hos limits. I'm trying to make money, not jerk off about being a super trucker, I'll save that for when I'm making 70cpm or better in a truck that can do 70mph or better for a company that doesn't look for every way possible to fuck me as soon as I get around 2000 miles.

I'd quit my job tomorrow and be a local driver in jew york shitty if I got paid 30/hr to do it or better. Happily. More than have the skill for it. But unless it's that much minimum I'm not fucking doing it and if I lived in jew york shitty I'd want it to be 40/hr minimum because I'd be living in a shoebox or my car to be able to afford it. But these megas want to send me through there in a sleepercab pulling a 53' trailer for less than 40cpm - they can eat my asshole. I'm not doing it anymore. There's plenty of freight elsewhere that I can run and actually get good mileage doing it.
If I run a 3000 mile week that means after taxes right now I'm bringing home 700$ and after insurance and shit I actually see 550$ of that in my pocket. I've yet to have a 3000 mile week, my best with this company thus far has been about 2700. But they want me to go drive in the hardest area possible in the worst conditions possible to do it in other than doing it in the winter on top of all this? They can do a flip for all I care. Just because I have the skill to do it doesn't mean I'm gonna do it for hardly any money, if anything it means I shouldn't do it without demanding more.

Volvo makes good shit but 30k british pesos likely won't buy you one unless it's damn near clapped out and in need of extensive maintenance if not repairs. Driving a semi as a personal vehicle, while legal, is a gigantic pain in the ass and costs an exorbitant amount of money. I imagine it would be an even bigger headache in the most cucked country on earth where everything is expensive as hell and if you're not a muzzie the government actively hates you and wants you to die.
Just get a regular diesel pickup. It'll be more than sufficient and much less expensive and less of a hassle. Unless you're driving 100k miles or however many faggot meters is equivalent while towing dozens of tons doing it every year a semi of any sort is just jerking off and wasting money.

Unless you have zero other options for a job I sincerely wouldn't recommend it. You'll take home about 600-700$ a week, you'll be home about 2-5 days a month, and you'll absolutely hate life. OTR mentally and emotionally and spiritually rapes almost everyone that does it and unless you're a literal schizoid that would rather not eat than have contact with other human beings it's going to rape you too. The only way your relationship would have a chance in hell of lasting is if you took her with you and she was your living fleshlight and was cool with just chilling in the bunk or passenger seat otherwise, and even then there's good odds you two end up fighting all the time and breaking up because you're up each others ass all the time. Best case scenario you end up getting her pregnant and she has to go home to raise the kiddo and you're now forced to keep working even if you hate it because you have a baby to pay for.
If you two break up and you're fucked for work, sure, go try OTR. Otherwise just get a local driving job or a regular job.

Yeah I always leave space even in bumper to bumper. It's stupid not to. If anything I'm usually the one letting people in. My favorite thing to do is when traffic gets consolidated down to one lane because of construction or an accident, I'll do the ELD creep on duty to save my clock until I've got like a mile of space in front of me and then slowly ramp up speed until I get to the other side and shit opens back up. Can fix traffic jams and unfuck an entire highway. The only downside is everyone behind me hates me for it because they're impatient and/or retarded and would rather huff exhaust from the car inches in front of them moving a couple feet every minute because it feels like they're making more progress, rather than chilling the fuck out for a while and getting the flow of traffic restored again.
To be honest this really isn't a job for smart people, you should ideally just be a perfect retard jeet and shit in a hole in the floor and not care if you die or kill people while getting paid slave wages.

I use a Garmin dezl OTR610, which is one of the smaller GPSes. It can be reliable but it doesn’t always have accurate information about road restrictions (e.g. GPS telling you you’ve entered a truck-restricted area when there are no signs telling you no trucks allowed). My GPS has been crashing lately, ever since it updated.
I will use that and CoPilot on my ELD to help me get to my next destination. Copilot is good for checking for alternative routes and trip planning. You can also get it on your phone.
I do recommend getting a road atlas as a reliable back up in case you’re in a bad area with shitty reception.

>>lower loads
the low trailer isn't stamdard but a lowboy used to haul tall loads. Standard trailers are ~5' (1.52m) off the ground.
>>less power
Theres less power but more torque to get up and down our mountain ranges with heavy loads.
>>slower speed and acceleration
We don't have autobahns, it doesn't really matter. We're also watched like hawks by the DOT, so unless you're some stupid brownoid speed is a pointless stat for a workhorse. As for acceleration, well, you got me there.
>>poor quality
Never driven an EU truck so I've no frame of reference, but since some scanias are built in Brazil and China, vs, say, Cascadias which are built here in the states, I wager ours would win over based on that alone.
>>shit driving experience
Again no real frame of reference. How so? My truck is a decently comfortable ride. The sleeper also isn't a shoebox which is a bonus.
>>longer braking distance
Unironically a skill issue. If you need to emergency brake you've fucked up.
>>take more space
America is huge, and we don't have centuries old city planning that necessitates small trucks with tighter turn radii. The only places short euro trucks are beneficial is cities for which box trucks are usually used.

The money isn't there anymore like it was for your parents, these companies nowadays want you to be happy with your 400 dollar weekly check while you think you're beating the system by not paying rent or a mortgage, they want non-domicile CDL holders with nothing more than a cell phone bill and no ambition in life and just enough brains to follow a blue line on a screen but not enough to realize they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago, or whatever George Carlin said in the 90s.

What happens if you get caught in a storm? I see a decent number of trucks in sketchy neighborhoods in NYC. Do they just park somewhere and leave it there? There are a few truckstops within 20 minutes (in a truck) of each other here but they all require actual skill to access because the roads were laid out in the late 1800s.

Park that shit and plan ahead days ahead for it, you don't want to be the guy playing musical parking spots while Pajeet, Ahmed and D'ontavius are seeing their first snowfall in their entire lives and shitting concrete rebar blocks at 70mph
Seriously, park it. Watch the weather days in advance, snowstorms are only surprise freak things when it's lake effect in the Rust Belt and for people who only use their phones for tiktok. The storm isn't the real thread, it's the mostly brown people who have never been in it and don't know bout FMCSA Anti-Coercion law.
You park that shit, I got 10 years under my belt and have had my trailer try to pass me on ice and i've had it lift up off the ground from wind in Wyoming, park it, you're not a bad ass by running in it. The only time you need to be in it is to get to safe parking, and you need to get there before all the other blue-line retard drivers do, plan ahead. You do NOT want to be that poor bastard playing musical parking spaces with browns when it's fucking snowing sideways and you can't see past your hood.

Likely, given that passion is really the only thing that keeps drivers from improving. I heard somewhere that western star hosts some kind of truck rodeo event and a few years ago they opened it up to ATS players and some of them hold their own against guys who've got 1 million miles and decades in the industry.
https://www.westernstartrucks.com/blog/get-wild-it-s-time-to-meet-our-2024-star-nation-experience-winners/
Only problem is, you'll soon find they made the game based on the best part of trucking, I haven't played in many years but I dont remember the simulator making your air lines snap because it was too cold outside or a new dispatcher giving you lip because he's stressed and slipping into DGAF mode or getting to your destination only to play 3rd worlder tag with someone who can sort out a paperwork issue way beyond your control
>>28651196

For the vast majority of company drivers they will never ever need to know how to cage brakes, especially since everything is moving to disk brakes now. It's also retarded to cage them and move whatever it is that was caged more than a handful of miles tops in that state. You unironically should've just called a mobile mechanic, had them deal with it, and done a split to recover the lost time instead of operating unsafe equipment. You can call me a faggot and I can call you a retard, it all worked out fine so good for you. Me personally I'm not caging a goddamn thing because it's not my shit and I don't get paid nearly enough to do that kind of stuff or care anywhere near that much.

I mean yeah you can just fast or do strict keto and drop a ton of weight in a hurry but even a dipshit can easily lose weight. Punch your height and weight into a BMR calculator, assume your activity level is sedentary, eat 500 calories less than that. You'll lose a pound of fat a week as painlessly as possible. There's even diet soda to make it easier.
>>28651777
I think most people are addicted to sugar and carbs and stress eating in general and then they get a job like doing OTR that's often wildly stressful and just eat their stress all the time. Constantly stopping at places serving fried chicken and candy bars with a soda fountain isn't helping either. You can fuck around and suck down an extra thousand calories of soda in a day without even thinking, do that for a week and you just put on two pounds of fat that'll take two weeks to burn off running a basic bitch deficit or probably four or five days of just straight up not eating for an average person.
I also think people are just too retarded to actually read the labels of what they're eating to figure out how many calories they're taking in to begin with. It's like looking at that label curses them.

All dieting is crash dieting. You can't just be in a caloric deficit forever, that's called anorexia and it will kill you. You also can't be in a caloric surplus forever, that's called obesity, and it will make your life terrible before eventually killing you. You have to figure out how many calories you need a day to maintain your current weight, and either eat a deficit of them to lose weight or a surplus of them to gain weight. It is literally just basic math. Calling a form of dieting "crash dieting" uses a psychological trick to get people to stop thinking about it and just keep existing in the state they're in, it ceases all thought, and it's no different than someone that's depressed or upset saying "it is what it is" or "fuck it, we ball".
If you can manage to just not eat for a few days you will lose weight in a hurry. You just can't do it forever or you will die, you do eventually have to start eating again. For someone operating a CMV not eating at all is a terrible idea unless they're otherwise in great health because if they're like most people in the US and they're prediabetic and overweight they will be very likely to just pass out or be exhausted because they have zero blood sugar and they'll end up killing people or dying or both. The actual safest fastest way to lose as much weight as possible as quickly as possible would be strict keto with calorie restriction, but you will be the grumpiest fuck alive if you're only eating like 1200 calories a day and 25-30g of carbs a day. Especially if you're a lardass that's used to 3000+ calories a day and 200g+ of carbs a day like most Americans.

Call someone a nigger on the radio in Atlanta at 5pm and record the chimpout, shit's hilarious I had to pull over once I was crying from laughing so hard.
>Be today, buying fuel in Hubbard OH
>Can't fuel at Jojo's so have to go to Love's
>Park my shit in the fuel island and go inside to buy fuel because the pump can't read my card
>giving the lady my info and a real-life chimpout happens in the entrance of the store
>Some porch monkey was arguing with some dude who actually followed him into the entrance to argue
>Then this nig wants to fight the Love's manager when she told him to fuck off out of her store
>He fucks off eventually
Swear to god it's always something out here.

Drive for a distribution company, delivering to a roster of customers rather than just catching loads to whoever and whatever. The one I hate going to the most is this fucking place. Their delivery dock is in an alley behind the building. There's a concrete wall on one side, a forklift ramp right next to the dock door, some steel stairs on the other side of the dock door, and a concrete wall dividing their parking from the other business so even when nobody is parked there, can't maneuver there. And utility poles on the alley side of the concrete wall, with concrete formed around them ready to tear your bumper off. The only trucks I see delivering to this building are day cabs pulling pups or 48' trailers, but we get the pleasure of fitting a 53' with a full sleeper cab on it. I've been here 3-4 times and always managed to get it in after significant effort, now they have a picture of my truck backed into the dock laminated and taped to their receiving door as proof it can be done. My apologies to every other driver that wants them to tailgate unload
Red marks are obstacles, blue is the dock door

NTA but I get good use out of mine. $400 for a refurbished satellite kit, $160/mo for unlimited data. Speeds and connection are pretty good if you mount it to the end of a loadbar outside the cab like picrel.
The price may seem steep, but for me I was paying $200 for combined phone and hotspot device from Verizon for internet, with poor/spotty speeds and connection. Downgraded it to the $50/mo TMobile phone plan since I use the starlink for internet and don't need unlimited data, so my monthly combined phone/internet is roughly the same.

I got my CDL, all my endorsements, and my TWIC card in the last two months. I’ve got a squeaky clean record. The only companies that have said yes after months of applying and calling have been Western Express, and May Trucking due to a gap in my resume. I’m in Cali and it’s been a journey finding work. Western Express has me starting in less than two weeks, May Trucking isn’t until the start of November. I’m broke and in debt and wondering how I’m going to survive until I get trucking, and even the first week or two until I get paid. I know going in that western express is “bottom of the barrel” though I just want to get trucking and see the country. I’m a simple man, I don’t need much. Food, water, and a warm bed while I roll down the road listening to music/podcasts/audiobooks. Any advice? I’ve got everything I own organized, ready to go, just needing the day to come where that door opens to my trucking career.

I did the math and at the company I'm with after a year getting 96k miles in that timeframe I'll gross about 56k before taxes. Actual take home not counting what gets taken out for insurance and cash advances on the road will be about 30k. It's definitely not great money but it's enough to live and it's life changing if you're a brokedick NEET going into it with hardly any bills. My living expenses for a year are 14k, I'm doing great.
If you're doing OTR first year and you're paying rent or a mortgage while doing it you're going to be fucking broke and you're also an idiot.
>>28655595
Western Express is literally the worst mega to work for, their pay is the lowest in the industry. They largely only hire felons and literally anyone with a pulse. They take SAP drivers and drivers with serious accidents on their record. They exclusively operate in the northeast which is the worst region in the country to drive in, their trucks are barebones, you're not allowed to idle at all unless you're about to have a heat stroke or freeze to death, they do a shitbag job maintaining their equipment, and their dispatchers are dumber than fuck. Doing your first year with them will in all likelihood burn you out and make you quit the industry and if it doesn't you're either insane or harder than nails.
You would be better off getting a job as a yard dog operator and holding that down for a few years until you can get on with a real mega. You would make more money and get to be home every night and you'd learn how to back up trailers like a big dick badass.

Central and western New York isn’t too bad and while everything is spread out, there’s plenty of opportunities for parking on the turnpike, especially between Buffalo and Syracuse. I’m less inclined to go anywhere in east NY and beyond. There’s fewer truck stops and service areas and Massachusetts only has one or two major truck stops on I-90. The rest stop on I-93, north of Boston, uses what appears to be prison toilets. I haven’t visited any truck stops in New Hampshire as the shipper was only 20 minutes away from the state line, so I didn’t need to rest there.
The number of truck stops increases as you head towards Hartford, Connecticut on *checks notes* I-84 but due to the lack of truck stops in NE, most of them are usually always full, especially the Pilot in Massachusetts, towards the state line. I ended up at a TA just outside Hartford and it was 100% paid parking for TWENTY-FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS, but it was the only truck stop that had parking at 1 PM.
I haven’t had to park anywhere near NYC and I never had to drive into NYC or any of its boroughs. I think the closest truck stop I stayed at, to NYC was a Flying J in New Jersey, just outside Delaware – it had like 210 parking spaces and it was the only one within 50 miles that had parking available at 8 PM.
Everything from Delaware to east Virginia until you get to Chesapeake Bay is a parking dead zone… from there, parking in east mainland Virginia is sporadic. The Love’s and Pilot west of Norfolk and Suffolk are usually full at night and if you just left the Love’s and see a Kangaroo fuel stop on your GPS, that will take you to a fuel station with one or two parking spaces that may be occupied but there’s a hotel across the street with a dirt lot just off to the side from its parking lot that you should be able to use.
I’m rambling…

I drove a 2022 VNR for a week and I think that truck has the most things I hate out of any of the trucks I've driven in the fleet. The main thing is the 3 sticks, man fuck putting the wipers on their own arm and putting the shifter on none of them, huge pain in the ass running off muscle memory from the other eco trucks. Another is the fucking window doesn't go down all the way which is probably what I hate the most, uncomfortable to rest your arm out the window and uncomfortable to lean out the window when backing or checking curb clearance. Finally the seat, fuckin tiny arm rests (short) the seat bottoms out like there's not even any resistance on it and its just not comfortable even when the road is smooth, I dont usually feel the need to stretch when I get to where im goin but I was halfway through a yoga course at every unload.
As for the 2025 models, lol them fuckers are ugly, international lonestar 2.0. I was previously little more than disinterested in the general ecotruck designs but if theyre goin the way volvo is for the future im gonna real disappointed.

I was under the impression that Volvos while unreliable, were comfy as fuck. I’m glad I drive a Kenworth, despite the occasional squeaking and rattling while going over rough roads and the occasional Chewbacca groan from the steering wheel while maneuvering in a yard.

Of the freightliners volvos and peterbuilts I've driven I'd say the peterbuilt (and likely paccar as a whole) are by far the most comfortable in terms of in cab design. I previously was hesitant to accept change but when I leaned out my window for the first time and got no resistance I couldn't deny I was enjoying it and not once did the seat bottom out anyone driving i99 south of state college PA knows that road is fucked and while it wasnt like riding a cloud it was way better than the alternatives. That being said those fuckers are so fucking loud, I usually base noise off the sound of the open window at 70 mph but the engine noise was competing with even that and the stock speakers ain't all that incredible so there's good and there's bad

My last company assigned me 3 Petes that all had issues within a month until they gave me a 200K mile international that never had a single issue. Sometimes I think you guys over exaggerate the build quality of certain brands as if they’re not all trying to cut costs these days

I'll play metal when I'm going through bad cities as an outlet for my rage towards retards.
If I'm going through some of the more picturesque parts of the country like rural Iowa or the mountains my goto is 2SFH and the like.

After solo driving for 6 months, I’ve become more confident in my backing. I’m still meticulous about leaving equal space between my semi and parking lines (or lack thereof, which I’ll just judge my distance between other trucks), so I will pull up multiple times, but I’m not as doubtful about getting my truck in the right position for backing, as I was before – any errors I’ve made during my setup can be corrected and it’s not frustrating, as before.
My relationship with dispatch appears to be improving and they seem to have accepted the work schedule I’ve set for myself and will assign me loads accordingly. Things can and will change but I’m glad everything has gotten relatively smoother, for the moment.

Man, you gotta admire how skillful heavy haulers are, being able to maneuver oversized loads around intersections and other tight areas that would otherwise be easy to drive through with a 53’ trailer, due to the dimensions of the trailer(s) and its load.

I would work for free for a month if I could kick my dispatcher in the nuts one good time and as cheap as my company is they'd probably take me up on the offer and call me a sucker for not making it two weeks instead. I'm going to finish this year even if it kills me, but I wholeheartedly understand why 52% of people that get a cdl quit within a year and never return to the industry. I'd eat a dozen fat bitches cunts if it meant my contract got paid off six months early. They don't even gotta shower first just hit it with a wet wipe. Fuckers won't even give me 2200 miles a week and I'm not even making 50cpm, I'm pretty sure they do this shit intentionally so they just get cheap freight rates and make bank off of me having to repay my school and board with interest.
If I ever get the chance to swing by my cdl school to give the old head classroom instructor a bottle of whiskey I'm spending the rest of the day laughing at all the idiots out on the yard practicing. They are so fucked it is unreal. It's criminal they don't have an arbecht macht frie sign over the door or at least an abandon all hope ye who enter here. Honestly at this point I'm hoping someone slams into me this winter so I can just get a settlement check and quit.

You can probably save time by asking dispatch if they can get you a load to or through Colorado, as it’s currently chain season, there and the northwest.

I mean is it just your truck bitching at you or will you actually get in trouble? The mega I'm with said I would get in trouble for going over 70 for longer than a few seconds but I've bombed it down a few long hills and hit 80 a couple times and literally nothing has happened and it's been months.

The truck’s nanny system will audibly tell you to slow down if you go 7+ mph over what they believe the posted speed limit is (it has gone off while I was going the speed limit a couple of times) and it will beg you to slow down if you reach 75 mph. My mega has also told us during orientation that we would get in trouble for going too fast for too long. I’ve never attempted it. I’m trying to keep as clean of a record as possible with them. I don’t know how easy or difficult it will be to find another job if you have anything on your record but I don’t want to take any chances.

If it was just on your DAC it wouldn't really matter unless you were trying to get on with another mega and they also cared about it. Nobody real cares about anything other than points on your license and preventable accidents. That said with the way most megas slack on maintenance it's probably best to keep it under 70ish at most. With mine a lot of the trailers are unsafe as fuck at any speed, I've declined loads over it several times.

Fuck off, we are full. No, it's not worth coming here. The Ryder Cup proved that any sort of traffic will clog the ancient roads. Any load worth hauling will be on the mainland.

Why aren’t you using that time to jerk off outside your truck? If any of the workers see you, just look at them in the eyes and keep at it. Assert dominance.
