I only put 87 no ethanol into my shit.

any decent modern car requires premium

If your compression ratio says so yes, because otherwise you'll destroy your engine.

If not, then no. You can buy the detergents they put in it in far more concentrated forms at your local auto parts store if that's a selling point for you.

Depends on your engine anon. Go with what the requirements for the engine. Higher compression generally means higher octane, it’s not a ruse by big oil to trick you into overpaying.

>>28630464 (OP)
higher octane fuel are better a high RPM
so if you grandpa it's completely pointless

You probably won’t destroy your engine using 87 in a car that wants 91+, modern cars will see the knock and fuck with timing and you’ll get worse power and efficiency,

I don't drive these, but fair.

it only makes it more resistant to combustion, which should eliminate knock in high compression engines
use the lowest rating your engine requires and you will never have the fuel to blame for your problems
also look at the different octane ratings between different countries, they are very, very different numbers
Bepis Van Dam !ZNBx60Gj/k No.28630502 [Report] >>28630508
>>28630498
>very different
There’s AKI and RON or some bullshit with that. Two different numbers might be the same octane rating.

It’s like saying 25.4mm and 1in are very different numbers
Anonymous No.28630508 [Report] >>28630670
>>28630502
well they measure the same thing but there are different tests and scales between rated and pump octane
i'm not trying to get into an argument, i'm just trying to advise anon that 91 in one place might mean 89 in another
that's all i meant by that statement

also bepis what are you still doing here
Anonymous No.28630516 [Report]
>>28630498
This. You want the lowest octane that never knocks for your engine. If your car is tuned for 93 then only get 93+, but 93 won't give you increased power in one designed for 87 unless it can "sense" different fuels and advance timing based on that (not most cars). All fuels have detergents in them so that isn't a huge deal eithe/.
Anonymous No.28630555 [Report]
It's not worth it financially. There are additives you can put into your fuel tank before you fill up that do the same job for a hell of a lot less.
Anonymous No.28630571 [Report]
>>28630493
you still need to knock in order for it to be detected and for the system to adjust, so you are doing damage over time still, it is not safe to do on a regular basis.
Anonymous No.28630573 [Report]
>>28630464 (OP)
If your car requires it, yes.
If it does not, no.
Anonymous No.28630584 [Report]
It is for me because my engine is known to build up carbon and knock and premium makes it not do that as much. And there are no knock sensors.

In moderation. That OP is a complete fag, as total lack of it and also too much of it are both terrible things.

Just get Top Tier gasoline instead of the discount grade gasoline made from higher sulfur petroleum. While such high sulfur material can be refined to meet Top Tier standards, it takes more energy and expense to do so. Instead, it's more profitable to sell that gasoline to the regular gas stations that don't advertise they have top tier fuel.

i run it in my older cars, carbed setups etc. ethanol can and will eat the diaphragm of a mechanical fuel pump over time so it’s best to minimize it

it's misleading, rather than looking at labels of marketing terms, you need to look at how much octane % that your engine can handle or recommend, because it will mess up your engine if your engine can't handle the heat or get knockings, cause "premium" or 95% gas will mess up the timing if the engine was not built to handle it or the computer was not programmed for it

It also leans out the mixture as well. I was in a pinch and had only ethanol blended gas available to me. It read a full point higher on my aFR gauge than when I run eth free.

Fossil fuels mostly come from plant matter, not animals.
Anonymous No.28631326 [Report]
>>28630967
We don't really know where it comes from. The tar lake in Trinidad refreshes itself to the old level no matter how much is extracted.

Living origin is one theory but there is so much of it it seems unlikely and who wouldn't the plants just rot down? Why do they turn to oil?

One theory by Immanuel Velikovsky is that it is of celestial origin. He said that every nation with oil reserves today had legends of a rain of fire in their past.

Another theory is that it is generated within the earth by means we do not understand. But seeing as the deepest anyone has drilled into the earth is seven miles anything beyond that is pure conjecture and abiotic origin is no worse than other theories.

It is better to call it mineral fuel really than fossil fuel. It isn't as though the fossil theory is proven or even lab replicable. Fortunately there is so much of it that there is no meaningful way to run out.

never seen any evidence where a lack of it is terrible. there are Vegan body builders. Lewis Hamilton is also Vegetarian or Vegan. it only offers benefits.
