In his defense old base model Hondas can wear out their drums, and people just never even bother replacing because automatics have park, and most of the braking happens in the front.

Rear brakes also last a LONG time. Not a million miles, but old accords like that could easily go 200,000 miles at like, 75% rear braking capacity, which isn’t really worth changing unless you’re tracking it.

This needs a wash and oil change and cvt fluid change and for me to fix the cap on the rad still. Anyone done a cheap maacco paint job before, can you specifically ask for certain areas to get cleaned up clearcoat and paint?
Anonymous No.28659279 [Report] >>28659328

If you're going to go Maaco, be sure to get the two stage, base coat with a clear coat laid on top of it in the style of a factory paint job, you could probably spent less than $1000 on a single stage job as opposed to $3000, but it will look like a single stage paint job, even if there's imperfections, the two stage Maaco job can actually be kinda beautiful when a fancy place can charge upwards of $7000+ for a factory style paint job with all the disassembly required.

I do wonder though. I wanted to see if I could hold out till the prelude drops. If the prelude is barely 38k or under I could afford it but my current civic is only 70k miles and the paint and interior are really really bad shape. I have holes in the carped, driver seat ripped, original owner put out cigs on the pannels and the car has smoke grime everywhere. The exterior has a lot of large paint chips to the metal and dents. This is a 2016 coupe, but it is the lx cvt.
Would It make more sense to just wait till the prelude price drops, look at them used maybe or keep the civic and spend 3k repainting it?

I've only owned Hondas and love their reliability and practicality. However, I made the mistake of buying the 17 crv with the 1.5Lt and after 120k miles it started having misfires. I replaced the fuel injectors and everything was good till now at 155k where I'm noticing the coolant is very slowly decreasing. I think it's probably the head gasket starting the fail. So at this point I'm looking to buy a new car as I'm not sure if I can't depend on this one for long trips.
I'm considering the new Pilot but I'm really worried about the long term reliability of the V6 especially considering it has VCM. Does anyone have any knowledge on how this engine has been? I'm also debating between the pilot and the MDX. They both share the same engine but I was curious if there was better tuning for it in the MDX

everything online says "just slide it down past the end cap", but there's a metal track running all the way to the end of the cap that can't be removed (in the center of the blade, you can see it extending past the insert), no matter how far i slide the end, there's no opening for the insert to come out

If it's not smoking from a blown head gasket or anything, you're doing good, maybe have the car looked at with the radiator cap off to make sure it isn't leaking combustion into the radiator either and it should be fine to do the TB WP thermostat service.

Brand new civics with the hybrid have a 6.1s 0-60, one of my buddies got one and he's a big fan. I always recommend a used 10th gen accord 2.0t, the 10 speed is really good in that 'light' of a car.

The e-CVT in the new hybrids is not a CVT at all btw, it's just a fixed ratio with a clutch and electric motors.

Can't go wrong with a k-series

I've never had a car long enough to wear out the clutch so idk anything. Am I going to make it 300 miles home on Sunday?
I also didn't know what was happening so I slipped it like 5 times then called my car friend. Then finished the entire drive in 6th gear/shifting clutchless if I had to shift. Not sure if that did damage.

Pretty much, the lower geared sporty cars I think they have 4th gear as their 1:1 ratio, my shitty CM has longer gears for croozin so 3rd is your 1:1 ratio, and then 4 and 5 are the croozing gears

That's a pretty sweet setup the Civic Si has got, 4 gear ratios close to each other would be so fun for touge.

We have hondapartsnow and hondapartsonline, the dealer network and general oem supply of parts is so large that you can get a lot of OEM maintenence parts on Amazon even for an old CM Accord, and if that fails or the cost is really high for something, Hondas generally take well to aftermarket parts apart from ball joints, that set of pads and rotors you got from vatozone are gonna quietly stop the car, unlike a BMW where it might be squeaking.

268,000 achieved last week. I do have a very intermittent rattle noise on warm start up but overall no concerns.

Went ahead and put in the OEM HID bulbs in from the JDM front clip parts I had. I was using some LEDs because the ballast connector was cut out but I was able to get the right connector from the front clip harness and bring it back to stock. I'm very surprised at how good the light output is for the era. The 05 Lexus ES330 optional xenon package headlights are nowhere near as good as these. Good shit, Honda.

Years back when I had the EG hatch I failed at attempting a TSX projector swap in my Denji headlights. I still have them sitting around with upgraded Morimoto TSX-R lenses so I think I'm gonna put them in these JDM housings. That will also fix the light pattern since this was meant for RHD cars. I just found out you can remove the entire projector without disassembling the housing which is fucking awesome.

I also got a set of TruHart rear toe arms and camber arms. That turned out to be a nightmare of an install because the eccentric toe bolts were rusted and seized to the bushings. Another bolt was totally rounded and torqued to the moon so I had to fight that forever with the help of a welder fren. The welded nut in the subframe is now stripped so I need to remove that, too. I had fren tack weld the bolt and it's holding, though. I'll fix it proper soon.

The rear crash bar is totally rusted out and in pieces only held by the bumper cover so hopefully I can replace that so I'm not fucked in case I get hit. It surprisingly has not left me stranded much at all. Once for bad grounds (lost battery power), and once for my dumbass not tightening a new upper ball joint nut enough and it popped off.

It's worth it no matter how shitty the car seems, at least for me, my shitty CM has like 179K on it now, it's worth $1000 at a dealer trade in depending on what angle you look at the car from, but I wouldn't think twice about spending $2000 to keep it on the road for another 5 years if that's what it took.
