Some play is normal with rubber dampers. If you think they move now, when you shift while riding they move a *lot*. It's needed on pavement to spare peak loading on your drivetrain. Without all that movement the splines would come off your countershaft. Don't worry about it.

Yeah I think you and the other guy >>28660473 are right, my manual says up to 5mm is fine. I'll replace my chain and sprockets tomorrow. Thank fuck, I've been worried about the chain since they sag like crazy on one section, and then its really tight on the other, which I was assuming was damage caused by the play in the sprocket I noticed. Technically the chain is just about at the km range where it should be replaced, especially the way I treat my machine.

Makes swinging a leg over easier, allows you to wear a back pack, and carry a passenger should the need ever arise. Also you can strap stuff in front of the box. There wouldn't really be much advantage to moving it forward, slightly increased aerodynamics, but the downside is eliminating all those options.

For what’s it’s worth I think I’ve decided against getting the striple anyways. If not for the lack of wind protection but the absurd maintenance windows, and I’ve been told the 765 in particular is difficult to self service because the engine is oversized for its frame.
Just as well, I love Japanese inline fours and they love barely needing any maintenance to put down endless long miles.

the govt wont allow vigilantism, but if you just fight back, what are they gonna do? go to the police and say "i tried to steal his bike, he kicked me off at 40mph and I broke my arms, arrest him"?
also you dont carry bear spray or mace etc. since thats illegal
allegedly, you carry some deep heat spray, and you accidentally miss your sore shoulder, and get it directly in the crims eyes, it supposedly has the same effect as police-grade pepper spray

>>enough policemen to arrest thousands every day over mean tweets
this'll come to an end soon, police force is bigger than all our forces combined, but have about 10 guns between them, and 0 scope to stop actual crime. apathy is growing at an alarming rate with about 50% of the force ready to quit or not renew contracts in the next 12 months

the mods on 4chan and most other forums on the internet are usually autistic trannies because those are the people who likely have nothing else to do with their lives. Sometimes they are sneaky sometimes they are just blatant with their trooness and can ruin communities over it. If you want a crystal clear example - the gay subreddits have basically kicked out real lesbians and banished any dissent. Now they are just trannies posting cringe memes and talking about how they are the "true" lesbians. Sometimes more subtle versions of it are fashion reddits where they sweep any bad optics of men dressing up as women.

idk, I've seen some stories of exactly that but it's more of a case of aggravating circumstances and the police just choosing the wrong party to crack down on.

>this'll come to an end soon, police force is bigger than all our forces combined, but have about 10 guns between them, and 0 scope to stop actual crime. apathy is growing at an alarming rate with about 50% of the force ready to quit or not renew contracts in the next 12 months

Hey guys, I just got my first bike, thought I'd share and ask a few questions.
Its a 1981 Honda CB400 with a 1982 Honda CM450T engine and a Mikuni Bs34 carb. I picked it up for 600$ CAD and have been slowly working on getting it running and cleaned up over the past month. I took the carbs off to clean them, put new gaskets in and freshen them up. I repainted the gas tank and I went over the bike once with chrome polish just so it looks prettier for the pics.
Rn my current battle is finding a reliable source for BS34 carb parts cause I'm a newfag to this kinda stuff and I just ordered the Keyster rebuild kits for it off some sketchy supplier site but Ive got a feeling that's not gonna be a reliable place to get parts off of in the long run. Also is there any specific advice for cafe racers, the majority of my experience on motorcycles was my grandpa's harley and that was just riding it up and down the farm road to visit family. Any advice would be appreciated and thanks in advance, alot of really cool bikes in this thread.

The rack on my old bike could be turned around to cover the passenger seat.
It was better hanging over the tail. There was no disadvantage.
Having it over the seat made it harder to get on and off, gave me less room to slide around on the seat and stopped me wearing a backpack while giving no advantage.

How hard of a rider are you? If you can't help but break the law everytime you're on a bike then get the ZX6R, it has to be ridden hard. The other two are better if you aren't constantly redlining, LAR9P if you like roleplaying as a supersport but actually just want to own a commuter, RS if you are taking estrogen shots bi weekly.

My own suggestion would be to get an Aprillia RS660, which is everything the LAR7P/LAR9P wishes they were, is cheaper than the 9 while more powerful than the 7, came out before either (nips just copied the idea), and is European.

Rode my Aprilia Classic 50 home, sixty miles of country lanes, urban either end. Never ridden a motorcycle before today.

Is only 50cc so I got overtaken by a tractor once but at my current skill level (low) this is fine. It is more power than I can use. It felt fast as fuck but I think a lot of the time I was doing nearer 25mph. Peaked at an indicated 70km/h slightly downhill in 5th gear.

Weirdest thing was hardly needing the clutch once moving. Just slides in if the revs are roughly right. Was not expecting that.

the monster costs 2 grand less than the sf and is the naked bike in the lineup you fucking bafoon. If someone wants a naked ducati they get the monster.

The real question is why the fuck would you buy the street fighter v2 instead of the panigale v2?

Breh, just the maintenance alone on a Ducati will make that $2000 seem like nothing. If you even cared about $2000 then why the fuck are you buying this brand to begin with?

Nice meme, too bad Ducati has the same undeserved reputation that is only true of past European bikes. Modern European bikes are just as reliable as the nips, well, maybe Honda still has an edge since they unpower all their machines.

Ducati is literally just the Hurley of sport bikes, overpriced bikes that run on brand recognition. The bikes themselves are all great, just far overpriced compared to literally any other brand.

The argument wasn't that "2000 dollars is a lot of money" its that 15,5 is more expensive than 13,2. When you take it in with the whole context the second question becomes important. the pannigale is only 1000 or so more than the streetfighter and they're literally the same bike in all other ways.

The question is whats the point of the streetfighter.

I'm not saying that on its face 2k is a lot of money. I'm saying that as a difference in value its a lot of money. That the bikes are not competing nearly as much as yammie says they are.

And in doing so you lose any sensibility or reason, as you focus on a tree without the forest around it. Ducati's audience and consumerbase is not poorfags worried about saving 2 grand, in fact the brand survives BECAUSE its overpriced, not in-spite-of. Actually didn't realize the 990 was so overpriced itself and just assumed it had the usual KTM pricing that matches the nips, in that case just compare it to the Z900 instead which is 10k flat and fits the usual Ducati scheme of being 30% more expensive for everything.

So yes, you literally throw away 2500USD for nothing. Thats 2500 USD + tip on top of all the parts being more expensive, and the service asking for 2x the price + tip.

Is $2000 a lot, or isn’t it?
People do this comparing rifles and pistols quite often. 3k on a rifle setup is fine, but thinking of spending that much on a handgun setup is out of the question. Both are going to only get shot at paper most likely, though.
Similar with motorcycles. Fundamentally (for most people) these are luxury purchases.
It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. If you’re buying something to use a lot, why would it matter what it is? Either it’s in your budget or it isn’t.
