I love how NPCs in TXR just drive at the redline in first gear on the highway

What are your E30 m3 times on the gp ft in AC? I could only find times for the group a or the GP.

NGL, the speed bump or asphalt join or w/e sound in TXR is making me go insane. It's louder than my engine and turning down sound effects doesn't actually make it quieter. I don't remember it being this loud in early access.

Update: I swapped my fully upgraded Swidt for a fully upgraded 180. Shortened the gears + went to the tuner. She still leaves me in the dust as if I'm standing still, even on twisty parts of the C1 and if I use nitrous the whole time. Fuck it, I'll just defeat Cinderella and get more cars and upgrades first.

just shortening the gears isn't necessarily the best for acceleration actually
you want to optimize the length of the gears so that as soon as you accelerate and every time you shift you are at or near peak torque
for the s13, that's exactly 5000 rpm. so line your first gear up with whatever ratio will sit at exactly 5k during the race start sequence. then when you shift up, 2nd should land at about 5k too. if you're simply shortening the ratios by increasing final drive you end up having to shift more which deletes any gains in acceleration. furthermore, revving the piss out of the engine and shifting at redline won't get you anywhere, especially for some of the smaller cars. you have to stay in the actual powerband, below the redline.

built an alto for the pizza wanderer and the kei cars in particular are not into being revved high and will just refuse to accelerate at all. shifting sooner,and letting the low rpm torque do its thing makes for much faster acceleration for a lot of the cars.

get to the top of 2nd and shift to 3rd, similar idea, you wanna stay in the valley between peak torque and peak horsepower, 5000-7400rpm. because of the sharp dip in power and torque after the peaks on the s13, you actually want to shift to the next gear at 7000 rpm instead of waiting for 7400 peak hp. the swift's peak horsepower is after the redline, by contrast, and it has a decent amount of torque to work with still, so it can be wrung out, but all its actual power is much lower in the rev range, meaning you have to build momentum to actually use its peak power.

you don't need those unless you plan on doing long endurance races. The first two games I mentioned has skill based matchmaking and you race against randoms. Single player racing will be boring unless the AI is really good. And if you don't like sims then stick to forza horizon I guess, but I find those games really shallow

yeah beam's content creation pipeline is absolutely fucked and only comprehensible by the most autistic of germans, it's easily the game's biggest problem. the documentation is absolutely awful and suffers from the common opensores issue of explaining what things are without explaining at all how to use them

every time they update the world editor i give it another shot and try to load up the heightmaps for monster truck madness 2 tracks, only for the game to choke on a 256x256 png and crash.
the entire process of creating a map, starting with a copy of an existing map and sort of shoving your assets into it or contorting it's heightmap to your will, instead of just having a blank "new map" button seriously pisses me off and is most of the reason half the game's mods break in every update
