Stupid questions that don't deserve their own thread

What's the best way to remove heavy calcification inside a radiator? I let it sit for 24 hours with vinegar and poured it out today, it was white as milk but there's still a noticeable amount inside. Just redo the vinegar soak several times?

Vinegar is the go-to product for stripping rust on vintage BMX components.
You can literally melt steel (beams) with it into a pile of goo if you let it sit too long. And im talking about the diluted white cooking vinegar like anon got from Walmart.

Did nobody have a chemistry teacher in high school who started the semester with a dozen jars of various acids from vinegar to soda to citrus to battery acid and see how long it takes to dissolve an iron nail in it (?)

And yet every year you have normies switching into their "winter tyres". Good for the tyre guys I guess, they also need to be fed.

You were lucky then, the ones my car's previous owner put on there were dangerously bad in the wet and utterly unusable in snow. I've literally had bald 12yo tires that needed a daily 1bar refill before and even those had better grip in the wet. After damn near crashing twice at low speed I dumped them and got some good tires. Never had a problem again.
Allseasons are always a compromise between durability & fuel consumption in summer and grip in winter. Some are functionally winter tires and will thus work with mild enough winter conditions, though they'll have downsides on hot summer days, especially in terms of wear.
Some will be like mine and have a tiny rolling resistance and very little wear all summer, but come a single snowflake the 1% gradient on your driveway is an insurmountable obstacle.

I'm sure theres manufacturers that do a decent job with them, but definitely look up some tests to find out which ones are decent so you don't end up with a pice of shit.

If you compare a good season-appropriate tire with a good all-season, the winter / summer tire will win for sure. But it's true that not having to deal with switching is nice too.

hey guys, my fiance finally bought her own car. we found a retired vet selling his 74k mile 2014 Toyota Camry for $8k. Apparently this dude had his 3rd DUI. He wastes his savings by going to his local towny bar everyday, gets plastered, and then drives home drunk + being nearly 80 he cant drive at all, so his wife made him sell his car for cheap.
this car has been dealer serviced recently, $2300 for new brakes and tires. there are a few small issues. besides never been cleaned, the touchscreen LCD isnt working, I found a fix for it but im wondering what else can I do to improve it. this is the first modern toyota ive deal with.
it has no GPS, is there a GPS version of the entertainment system available that I can fit in there? I dont specifically need it for GPS functions, its just nice to have a map on display, and maybe a better quality head unit.
2nd, im looking for remote start. my gf is really bad about getting the car started early, and she drives right off before letting it warm up at all. this irks me.

adding on more insults doesn't make your argument more solid.
everything that was in the vinegar was thoroughly rusted to start with.. If vinegar was the reason for the spring's deterioration, it would be seen throughout the whole spring, not on only one end of it. And again, that is a tiny, tiny spring. Your argument was that grocery store vinegar will turn a steel beam into goo, but in over 1 1/2 years it barely did anything to an extremely tiny spring.

so let's recap:

>5% vinegar will dissolve metal!!
metal sitting in it for 19 months was barely affected. Unless you plan to live into your 1000s, you're not going to see 5% vinegar from walmart do anything of note to a steel beam.
>it didn't do shit to those tools because chromium!
files are typically carbon steel
>coke will completely dissolve a steel nail in under a week!!

You do realize the way cans work is that they're also full of solvents which evaporate away when you spray it on, hence why it bubbles. the stuff in the gallon pails is thicker due to the lack of solvents. its the same product, the solvents will evaporate once you spray it on
