02 Audi A6 Allroad
Just bought one with 190K miles for $2700 to use as a winter beater. How badly did I fuck up?

pretty bad. Something expensive is gonna break every month 200k german miles are like 300k japanese miles

Allroads lead to insanity. I've seen these make hardcore VW fanboys quit VW cold turkey.

>air ride suspension entirely unique to this model
>3 differentials
>4 axle boots
>two dogshit K03 turbos (engine out job)
>timing belt (engine out job)
>torque converter (engine out job)
Great buy as long as you hate having money, guarantee you're going to need to spend an extra 5 grand at the bare minimum and even that will only get you another 20-30k miles.

I suddenly feel validated by my 20 year old turbo subaru purchase. You can't really get away from 3 diffs + 4 axles with AWD though.

>>timing belt (engine out job)
This is incorrect, you just have to take the entire front clip off.

Pretty badly dude, hope you've got an actual backup winter beater now.

should have bought a volvo xc90 or a toyota rav4 if you wanted a decent softroader

if it is TDI, you would be ok. Otherwise, not good. Despite this, first gen A6 allroad is still cool anyway.

Even the TDIs are a fucking disaster because instead of the 1.9 TDI they have the 2.5 TDI V6 that has all the leaky gaskets and packaging issues of the 2.7TT but now with a bonus long-interval oil change schedule that leads to wiped-out cam lobes
Literally every engine option is a ticking time bomb waiting to nuke your bank account

Gonna go against the grain here and say $2700 for something that runs and drives isn't bad these days, especially something as cool and as powerful as the C5 Allroad. No doubt there's lots of expensive shit to break on that fucker but I'm betting you already knew that when you bought it. As long as it lasts you a couple winters I'd say you got your moneys worth. Good luck anon

It's unlikely to even last one without serious trouble
