I've been waiting for a Shoomer run and a video from the R1 guy, but so far I'm left high and dry.

what country are you from
what bikes do you like
how much do you have to spend
if youre a euro and have to do CBT>A licences, I'd suggest a honda CB125F simply because theyre GOOD, and once you have your A license, an MT-07 as a "beginner" bike
if youre american, you can kinda just skip the 125 stage and just hop on an MT-07 or an MT-03 if youre less confident - theyre really solid learner bikes with good dealership support and large internet knowledge bases, as well as being extremely easy to work on if you want to learn that too

1200/1250/1300GSA, Africa Twin and Tenere* riders generally do actually go offroad
>to get to their camp ground spot
but the entire adv genre now is essentially 90s dakar rally-style larp for people that want to put a tent on the back of their bikes and maybe sleep away from home for the weeekend
ducatti basically just made a tall tourer
nothing wrong with that inherently, but the category is a joke

Video "#2"
Youre doing 120-140 coming up behind the guy, at night, in a 60 zone
he indicates to change lange *AFTER THE JUNCTION*, you speed up on him, without slowing down, cut off the car in the right lane and enter his blind spot, causing him to hesitate and cancel his intention to change lane
Video "#3"
106 in a 60, you divebomb 2 cars with minimal room, and enter the red hondas blind spot to do a third, he sees you are about to kill yourself, so he pulls back in to his own lane - you then continue to split at 90-100, while still in a 60 zone
Video "#1"
we've been over this before - you habitually sit in his blind spot, splitting at 60, while traffic is at 30, when he goes to change lane, you tailgate him and then enter is opposite blind spot
you deserve to get knocked off
you deserve to die
you deserve to have your expired helmet disintegrate to dust as your skull hits the ground
you are the reason the public hate bikers
you are the reason we are legislated against
you are a retard and a faggot
and worst of all
you are a fucking leaf

Would reccommend, as that video does not do justice for the jagged desthtrap thatbis full ride
But
This last august i went was absolute trash conditions on that same road, this vid i would be able to do 80kph roughly without worry for demon potholes
This year i was barely able to do 30kph in some spots, such bad washouts
But if you really want the kootenay experience, do this funtimeroad
I nearly died like 3 or 5 times with my shoomerload and a busted ass rear wholset
Im lucky to be alive quite frankly, tbe crf450rl was in no safe riding condition this summer after the hiatus of parts scrambling
Whats crazier still is between that month and a half being stuck and travel, i have worked one 21 day hitch, and since them have had no work
Oh yeah FunZone™ bonus: they just announced company wide austerity and my rate and everything got slashed

Guys on dad bikes are more comfortable, ride more so they’re better at it, and more cautious so they’re less likely to have trouble.
But he has made being a tough biker part of his personality. Since most bikers (by mile ridden) are comfy maxxing, he perceives this as a threat to his self image

They hate us, cus they aint us. They are frightened by wind so much they need a cagie screen to protect themselves from it, they are too scared to split, they fear wet conditions. Only real riders understand that riding is about embracing the elements, feeling the wind, the assault of the rain, and the thrill of a cagie obstacle course. We ride in any conditions and dance in the rain:

More than anything I’m trying to get it safe to ride and make sure nothing is eating itself. I spent $500 on it, he wanted $800. So $500 in new parts and repairs isn’t off budget.

Mate, I got no dog in your race about how you all ride, but you're waxing real poetic about all that freedom in following a little black line that, should you ever leave it, you will likely be fined or go to jail for tresspassing, assuming you don't just get shot by the owner for touching his dirt. (And like a good hypocrite, if I ever save up enough, I'll buy my own dirt and make sure no one else ever gets to touch it.)
I know we're all supposed to spit on the cagies for being stupid cattle, but I don't see the point when I seem to end up in the same damn feedlot. I guess we did get there a bit faster.

And your dirt bike follows its brown line, in a safe space away from everyone else who are deciding what you may or may not do. A man without society and civilization is a beast - we do not shun others, but rather embrace them - only demanding that they recognize a collective and individual do both exist at once, you are not merely a sum, but many parts of a whole. Freedom is within the mind, and also the physical, however these laws and rules are not physical, you abide by them only because you fear invisible power, you are shackled without restraint in the real.
They say I must drive in such and such a way, I must hang such and such a thing off my bike, papers, documents, you are tagged from birth via a code no different than cows in the barn. Who said these things must be this way? Was I apart of this conversation? Clearly not! Just because so and so says something, does not mean I must follow it if I do not agree with it.

Day 2 you're going to be mostly focusing on the parts that you'll be tested on. The standards on day 1 are higher than the test, like stopping from a start you don't have to get up to the same speed.
Just really focus on what you're doing with the clutch and your head. Also its okay to make 1 mistake don't panic and follow it up with another mistake.

Pshhh, I drove mine off the lot and I've never even driven manual. Just looked up some guides on youtube, then sent it. I did take it to a parking lot right across the street to practice for 45~ minutes before driving it home though. Also it was scary as FUCK doing intersections all the way back lol.

To be fair, if you're gonna buy a nice bike right away (would not recommend), then don't do what I did, because I dropped my bike twice on the way back home, and also knew I was going to drop it. Once in the parking lot, and again on a tight left corner. Also stalled it multiple times, so if you get embarrassed about looking like a fool in public learning something, then you'll die dropping your bike and stalling all over the place.
>talking with crusty old German devops guy at work

It's kind of weird how many of the supposed GOATs from the 2000s/2010s we just never got in the US. Shit, the Transalp was a v-twin. I thought American's loved v-twins?

You'll probably still stall on occasion out in public, especially once you want to learn to launch faster, I stalled out a zillion extra times trying to get that tighter.
Its worse than in a class because most people don't even know about stalling in the modern era of automatics, you just look like a fucking idiot, and then get beeped at for holding up traffic lmao. At least in the class room everyone is shit and trying to learn, in public its just angry cunts doing their wageslave commute.
It is what it is, just have to take the public L and continue learning. Eventually they'll be holding all the L's wanting you split and filter through traffic taking 30 seconds to cut through 30 minutes they have to sit through.

Depends on if you want it to go away, do you know why you crashed to begin with? I've crashed three times so far, once going wide, once stunting, and another giving too much throttle on a corner with cold tires. Its easier to get over it when you know what to fix, as you fix it, you won't worry so much about that style of crash.
Enviably though you will have to understand that on a bike, you will crash. No one rides without crashing at the start, and the only people who ride without crashing in general are people who aren't learning or pushing themselves to become better anymore.

I'm not sure. I talked about it in here before, so apologies if I repeat myself. I don't know if it was:
>gravel
>cold offroad tires
>too much lean angle
I was coming into an intersection to make a left on to an on-ramp. Imagine a big S turn. The intersection is concrete instead of asphalt. As I entered, I leaned the bike over like I've done a thousand times before. I stayed wide within my lane. I kept my throttle steady, neither accelerating or decelerating. I think the front washed out before the rear, but I can't be sure. I think I was going 30mph or below.
Motorcycling is definitely something I want to get good at. I'm going to do some supermoto and enduro classes for sure.

Scorpion has everything from sumo streets to outright dirt bike tires, are you on actual pic related tires? Because this shit will have less than half the grip actual street tires have, literally worse than riding in rain. You don't lean over on knobbies, you should be riding in a delicate manner on those tires in the street. Not only that, but the compounds are different, street tires are made to grip Asphalt, this shit is made for dirt and mud.

Holy fuggin kek.
Ok so there is something called a contact patch, this is how much your actual tire is connecting with the road for grip. The reason slick tires are better for track is because there are no gaps, meaning your contact patch has more grip than pic related - a standard street tire. I want you to imagine what your unholy off road knobies would look like if translated to a picture like this. Literally less than half the amount of contact.
Now imagine if even one tiny bit of oil or gravel gets on one of the spots a knob lands on, well you are basically SoL aren't you? Because all you have touching the road is like three knobs at a time, and you just lost one.

Yeah, just take it easy when you are riding knobbies like that on street man, you don't even have relaxed knobbies either, those are more gap than knob lol. For reference, pic related is a "50/50" tire, meaning its half made for street and half for off road, even these are some aggressive tread for roads.
Motorcycles are extremely dependant on our contact patches/tires, even more than cars, because we have half as many wheels, and when you lose grip on a bike, its not a little happy accidental "skrrrt", its you falling down on your ass sliding around on the ground and breaking your levers usually.

I'm 2 months into running my own riding group and I've come to conclusion I hate most people involved (or claimed to be involved) with motorcycles.
The first month was great. We're a real mixed up group. We've got almost every brand covered. Young and old. Sub-500cc start bikes to big tourers and liter bikes. Decades of riding experience to complete beginners. 50/50 women and men. Family members and former complete loners. I really felt like I was doing a great job at getting newbies into riding, and keeping seasoned riders into it.
However, for most of September and the entirety of October, I've had to deal with bullshit. Losers on FB Marketplace specials trying to creep on the girls in the group. Unsafe retards who don't understand you can't buzz through the middle of the formation almost running people off the road or into oncoming traffic. Inbred joe-bobs with a 30yo road king they ride once a year and cloutfags who got some sport bike they don't know how to ride for social media being dicks when we're out or on the FB page I didn't even want made. I'm just getting fed up.
What do I even do at this point. Make it more exclusive and invite-only? Vet people before they even show up? I'm going to be telling the member that started the FB page to take it down. I knew it was a bad idea and attract the kind of hate a 48yo mom couldn't handle.
I just wanted to try to keep something near and dear to my own heart healthy and going, but shit I hate most people on two-wheels now.

So half the White or Asian people you meet have an IQ of less than 100.
Hispanics are around 89.
Africa is 75. (Generous).
So statistically, the majority of people you interact with on a daily basis would be considered technically (medically) retarded 20 years ago.

Holy fuck I just had a sketch ass encounter with a cop. I was in my car getting flyby videos of my buddy on his bike. We exit the interstate and hit the FM road. We do an illegal pass around a few cars at a light. A ways down the road he does an insane flyby and hits a turn hard. Next thing I see party lights a ways behind me. I turn off on the next road, thinking the cop is going after me. He absolutely saw me turn off. He keeps going after my buddy. Buddy was wondering where I went, sees the lights coming, drops two gears, splits oncoming traffic at triple digits, flips off his tail light and went home at 130+ the entire way.
I am so fucking shocked the cop didn't go after me, the easier target, doing 90 in a 55. There's no way he didn't see me turn off. I was turning off just to pull over because there was no way I was running in my car, but he just kept going. Maybe me turning off put doubt in his head about me being the car he was after because there was other traffic and he had lost sight of me for a second.

The IQ of a group is the IQ of its dumbest member divided by the number of people in the group.
Either burn down, pass it on or find the most intelligent people in the group and have meeting to discuss the fate of the group.
The reason why things are gatekept and more exclusive now days is because the amount of shitheads is to great and nobody has social awareness.
Most groups base themselves around two ideas. Everyone rides but come from all walks of life. Or everyone has a common interest and also rides.

I think he saw me and the bike both whip around the cars at the light, but I don't know for certain, and I was speeding quite a bit too. I don't know really, but it just seemed really weird he didn't go for me, I was speeding basically the whole way. Enough for a bad ticket, but I'm certain he would have arrested my buddy. I'm really glad he didn't stop. I put the light cutout switches on his bike for that exact reason.
There's no way I was going to try to run in my car especially with my wife with me, so I just pulled off immediately. Thankfully it all worked out though and I won't be fucking around on FM roads anymore.

I'm not going to do that. We have over 20 really solid people. I'll admit this all started because I'm a motorcycle salesman, and I wanted a way to get the people that bought a motorcycle from me, and didn't have anyone to ride with, to have a group. We also offer MSF courses and I extended that to people who went through the course, and then they would invite friends and family. I didn't want it to seem so transactional. Some of those people went on to get Harleys, Indians, or Royal Enfields (which I don't sell). Maybe they even already had a bike. Ultimately, I'm interested in keeping people interested in riding because it can make me money, sure, but I also want the hobby I love to have more people involved. I wanted it to turn into a beginner friendly/open to all riding group.

It came down to that and a Honda XR650L, and the XR won out because the dude was selling it for 1500 bucks compared to the lady's asking price of 5500.
Still, every once in a while I wonder what it would have been like with the 450. I enjoyed the short little test ride I took on it.

Okay anon I'm wearing my full bike gear and going to a scooter rental so I can practice riding two wheels in a city, since I don't have a motorcycle license yet and practice hours in the school are expensive as fuck. How dumb is this? Am I missing something obvious? Isn't it an obvious system hack?

No it's not, an hour (60 mins) of a skilled engineer in my country costs for regular people 80 euros. Yet 45 mins of a ride with a teacher with zero education costs the same. It's anything but steal, in fact it's overpriced in my country on purpose to turn off people from riding (not conspiracy).

for my 14-39 geared crf250.
The sprockets will allow me to shorten the final gear in 3 steps (13-39, 14-45, 13-45).
Levers are obvious.
With the clutch springs I’m also contemplating switching the judder spring and half-size friction plate with a normal full-size one.

Specifically I am looking at the Aprilia RS 125.
I had a throttled xj600N a few years ago and now I wanna try a supersport motorcycle, but because of license fuckery I can only drive the ones with less than 48HP and those old 2-strokes seem like having the most power with the lowest weight for a small price.

if you have a formal structure, then start vetting people, give our ride briefs telling people how/where youre going AND how/where they should act, as theyre representing YOU and the group as a whole
you need to give them structure and boundaries to stay within, otherwise they'll all act like morons, if you formalise the structure you can then start to include disciplinaries, i.e. someone does an unsafe overtake? youre buying everyone coffee at the next stop etc.

It's not 1:1, but I would look to orgs that deal with risky activities, like sporting pistol groups or boxing clubs. Most of them are semi-public, in that anyone is free to show up on a probationary basis, but you must be vetted for a baic level of competance and common sense before they don't babysit you.
In my experience, if a guy cannot even tolerate the 10-20 mins of supervision it takes to validate someone's level of competancy and impulse control, you (and your general liability insurance) really want them going somewhere else.

Off-road I like that 2nd feels taller, less need to grab 3rd for short bursts.

Chasin cars, wish I was faster. Think I need to learn to downshift while braking because I have an awkward issue with gear spacing where if I bomb in at top of 3rd (115-120ish mph) then I’ll be out of my powerband for a good drive out but 2nd gear redlines before 100mph so I just limit myself to only taking corners at 90ish mph and can’t really make good use of the brakes coming in
I can’t really skip rev matching because downshifting at rpm’s this high upsets the suspension really hard if you don’t nail it

>Think I need to learn to downshift while braking
No need to learn that since you aren't even carrying the speed you already have, you should be able to hit all of those easy bends you take at 75-80mph at 100+mph, you just ride scared (fair enough).
I'm skipping around but at 2:47, you are hands off gas and brake, coasting like a cruiser rider does; at 3:00 you slow down way too much (despite it being an open corner you can see through), then set your lean/speed, and finally try giving more throttle to make up for the fact your speed is so low. Why worry about a good drive out when you aren't even in a good entry?
Its hard for me to give you examples for your speed and the really light curves you are riding on because my top speed is capped so hard, but watch the below vid (you can also listen/watch my throttle, its completely neutral the entire way even as I re-stood the bike up and went back down, only a 5-7kmh drop near the beginning to retighten the line after the pickup fucked me over):
https://litter.catbox.moe/wgaje5251j6wyprv.mp4
My bike doesn't have the top speed to be able to hit this bend properly (I can't even drop enough speed to setup the suspension either) so I have to straighten up mid corner and double apex at 80mph because I have more lean than the corner needs at 80mph, but if I can hit this at 80mph at that lean, you can hit your easier bends at 100+ easy. If you want some extra confidence then lean off the bike more to reduce your lean angle, I notice you're pretty lazy about body position, it takes basically zero skill for a solid gain in speed.
I should go do a sea-to-sky run and record it tomorrow or something since I'm changing my chain and everything today I hope, but even canyons and "twisties" don't have the bends and corners like real tracks do, so most of the time its just throttle open for me which is boring and doesn't even let me setup suspension. Closest to tracks are doing hairpins and mountain switchbacks.

If you post about your riding in a public space while theorizing about what you need to improve on, you don't think that you are essentially asking for others to give their opinions on it? What replies were you hoping for exactly?
