I have a friend who works at the Toyota dealership. He says the new motors aren’t lasting. The 4’s or the 6’s. You just can’t get the same long term reliability with less cylinders. Every part in the engine is under twice the stress.

Beautiful engine tbqhwy. I completely disagree with the crowd on this one. Great package and I think it'll be vindicated as the years go on. It's built like a diesel and has a battery backing it up so it should never be under stress during normal driving. I think the issue is the American consumer wants to run 87 slop. Bump it up to midgrade or e85 and that thing will do 500k.

Toyota specs these to their commercial truck specifications. The old v6 is an absolute turd. Toyota essentially set the standard for hybrid power trains. The little 4 cylinders cooling system is set up for an engine 3 times it's displacement. Boost is nothing scary.

Bumper clips breaking off on their own is a common Goyota problem, and suspension going to shit within 20-40k miles, and headlights/touchscreens getting too dim due to low quality wires, and now their transmissions are kabooming. They're not reliable anymore, shame. Nothing these days is. I'm just going to build a Model T type vehicle with ebike hub motors. I'm done with this shit, cars are a fucking scam.

Oddly enough I still see Hino commercial trucks doing 300k+ for gas and 500k+ for diesels. You don't see Isuzu or others on the market with that many miles.

I got a 2025 Camry and regret it quite a lot. The plastic rattles are insane though I wonder if it would have been the case with any new car. I drive a banged up 2019 CRV for work with 100 000km and the only thing that squeaks is the seat spring. I don't think I'll buy a new car ever again.

Gotta make mistakes sometimes to learn from them, I guess.

These do NOT have those powertrains. It's a completely different system and shows why they never tried anything before when everyone kept asking Toyota where the hybrid Tacoma and 4runner were.

You keep saying overstressed yet it isn't. It's got a piggyback battery for low end grunt and a 4cyl that won't do anything but near idle down the highway. It's boosted to recirculate exhaust and heat it for the converters. Boost is more about emissions than performance these days though it does play a small part in getting up to speed.

You're arguing out of both sides of your mouth. This engines entire purpose in life is to cruise at 75 down the highway for 300k miles. It isn't a race engine and isn't tuned like one.

Only con I see is it isn't flex fuel when it should be.
