I recently got a white collar job in construction
I feel like a lazy piece of shit. I show up late most days, I take naps, I sit in my trailer watching Hitler lore videos and i face no consequences for any of it.
And yet I make more money than any blue collar job I've ever had. I get paid by the mile, and I accrue a day off worth of PTO every pay check. I'm making the most money, have the least responsibility, and do nothing of tangible value other than navigating a mire of regulations, emails, specifications and legal compliance clauses.
The money is great, and yet feels like complete bullshit work. I honestly wish I became a foreman instead, because then I could actually do something productive with my time. The economy is completely inverted where the people putting their bodies on the line get paid like dirt, and people who do nothing like me are making all the money.
