ALL triangular road signs are warnings
ALL pictures road signs are information
maybe, just maybe, this road sign is WARNING you of some CRUCIAL INFORMATION that may be relevant to you in an area
it doesnt matter if the only driving you do is from mΓΌnchen to berlin on das autobahn to spend your days in Berghain
as a licensed road user it is your duty to be able to comprehend and decipher such confusing pictograms to ensure the safety of yourself and other road users
if I showed you a French-Canadian stop sign, you'd not be confused by the fact it says "arret" instead of "stop", despite the fact that even the french in france say "stop" on their signs, you'd know its a stop sign BECAUSE ITS A BIG RED OCTOGN, THE SAME AS ALL STOP SIGNS
anyone that driven 250km, let alone 250k km would understand that

I asked, they refused.
I even asked if I could go drop off the key and they basically just told me it was getting parted out or auctioned as scrap. Guy seemed somewhat competent, was looking at the service department's quote on the phone with me and they wanted "$4500 for damaged fairings and two front turn signals alone. I won't even go into the powerparts catalog things as they're on a whole separate quote"
One of the alleged damaged fairings is pictured here... somewhere.

The BMW emblems are a separate cost from the fairings too but I wasn't told what it was.

they don't get to refuse, it's not their bike until you sign over the title. You can take it back from them any time you want. If the damage is as you say, the bike is 100% rideable and based on these pictures you don't even really need to do anything at all to it. One pannier has a scuff, the other is bent. If you can bend it so it closes you can keep it. Your engine guard is scuffed. It's whole job is to get scuffed.
If they're dicking you around, write to your state insurance commission. Takes 5 minutes and can be done online.
https://www.michigan.gov/difs/consumers/complaint
this complaint goes straight to someone at the insurer who handles the insurance co's relationship with the state of MI, it's outside the normal insurance team and will light a fire under your adjuster's ass
if you post your contract with personal info redacted i can take a look at it and maybe give you some options, i fucking hate insurance cos
you should do this for every single insurance claim of any kind

Too late for the title thing.
I really don't want to spend that much time on this and I'd rather have the money to buy something cheap at the end of this season to have next season. I'm sad at the waste of it all, not the bike going away. I'll find something else I like. Maybe. I've been looking at transalps but there's something about them that just doesn't appeal to me all that much for some reason.

o if you signed it over then the deal is done, i retract what i said. if you've signed the title over and haven't been paid while they "process your claim", you should file the insurance commission complaint.
if a dealership signed the title for a bike over to you, they wouldn't give you a few days/weeks processing time before they expect payment

It all depends on how much the discount is worth it to you and whether you're financing and have a place to store the bike. Sometimes even a heated storage unit for the four months can be $300-$400 which could still be ahead overall.

between now and march is actually the best time to buy
>now
people coming to the end of the season looking to shift their bikes because they want a change, or are quitting
>after xmas
desperate people that need a quick cash-in (youre being ethical by saving them from debt)
>after blue monday (3rd monday of Jan)
(the least ethical, but best deals) loads of people kill themselves, and their family sells off their shit, they dont know how much much its worth
>march
start of the new season, people realise they actually want a new bike, so sell their old one
the only problem is getting the bike home, if you travel a distance for it, dont have a trailer and the weather is turbodogturd in your country i.e. uncleared snow or sideways rain

I just leave the bike in the shade now under a tree to protect from UV damage. Not worried about rain anymore since it just cleans the bike. Sometimes I have to take rust cleaner to some bolts to clean off surface rust other than that the bike looks mint no different than some garage queen.

Finished the ultrasonic cleaning of the injectors and got it all back together. Going to test ride tomorrow. I doubt it will fix the sub 8000rpm touchy throttle issue but at least I know the injectors are clean now.
I do think maybe they were a little clogged or sticking because the ecu has been tuned by two wheel dyno works, and three of the plugs looked like it was running slightly lean. One plug looked perfect. However, that could have been from the valves being out of spec before I did the adjustment.
I did however find out that there is in fact a center sync screw for the throttle bodies to sync the two banks together. Found the procedure and pictures in the service manual. Never could get the vacuum sync quite right. Numbers were jumping around and one side has screws all the way out, other side all the way in. So I'm going to back them all the way out and start from zero and do it the way the manual says now that I have that, instead of just pulling shit from decade old forum posts. Kek.
One thing at a time though. Need to see if the injector cleaning did anything.

Harley owners, I need a bit of help figuring out your transmissions.
I've been eyeballing a Rotax 503 for a swap on my bike and because they don't have a regular transmission, I was thinking "don't harleys use an external belt driven tranny".
I did a quick check on ebay for them and noticed that a lot of them had some sort of cooling or oil hoses going to the tranny, do they require an external oil pump of some sort? I thought they'd be splash lubricated like a regular transmission is.

Some Harleys have oil coolers, little radiators at the bottom front of the down tubes. I think they call it "dual cooled." No idea how that relates to tranny fluid, although I believe a chain drives a splasher or summat in the tranny fluid reservoir. I just ride them, so take that with a grain.

Doing 170khm in 2 degrees with a nice lil tuck (and I feel fine). I actually didn't even realize it was 2 degrees until someone told me, I'm not even wearing me long-johns yet, so many bikers cry about the cold but its unironically fine so long as you have something to break the wind.

That is the plan in a couple years.
Rebel300s are bogged down at the intake but the replacement is a pain and you might as well go all in for the work required to get everything off. But that is a lot of money for not much gain. The cb300r and cbr have air boxes that aren't restrictive and more ecu options.
I want to move to something with the honda 500cc engine at some point not sure which but I have time to sit on things.

Tbqh 99% of people who ride them don't either, look at the average youtuber who owns them, they cruise around at 60-100kmh in 4th gear so it behaves like a 300cc lmao. The only time they touch the throttle for real is when they do highway pulls in a straight line or some light bends in the canyons.
Even if you just want to go up a small amount, it would still be a better investment to just go from a single cylinder 300cc to a paralLEL twin at say 500-700cc. I know you said you wanted ABS, but god damn SV650s are almost given away for free, you could probably sell the rebel 300 for more than the SV650 lmao, I know my 390 Duke is worth more than them.
>Ninja 400 will not kill you
It'll kill you with ease, all depends on how you ride a motorcycle. Look at the average canyon riding video, 120mph (ninja 400 max) if you carry it properly is faster than the thousand riders will hit a corner at, they'll only lose you in the straights, and no one dies in the straights because anyone can twist a throttle in a straight line.
I get what you mean though, low cc is nice for when you fuck up something, it won't just shoot itself into the closest wall automatically. Plus it takes more skill to get speed on low cc, can't just open the throttle whenever your terrible corner entry and exit are exposed.
any /shitbike/ enjoyers using a bicycle speedo as your /shitbikes/ speedo is kill?
>friend gives me a bicycle speedo
>has many many options for wheel sizes
>Shitbike is 19" front and 17" rear , no settings listed for these wheel sizes
Closest size it lists is 20"
Can i just figure it out? test out what the speedo is saying compared to a gps app and just remember the speeds (speedo saying 25 but its really 30?)

DJI action 4 is my camera and I record at 2.7k (although it decided to record in 4:3 aspect ratio for whatever reason, think I might have touched the controls by accident), its better than gopro/insta 360 for low light environments (I ride a lot at night/early morning), which is why I picked it. I think Gopro has a slightly higher FOV atm, but you can't use the higher FOV in the low light mode anyways, so I just stuck with DJI. That being said, DJI has annoying softward/app you have to install, so thats a negative.

Mounted with this chinese helmet mount:
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09D7D1WJ4, a hell of a lot cheaper than the other mounting systems from the usual suspects. I would advise scratching the surface of your helmet with a tiny bit of sandpaper though, makes any adhesive stick a lot better.
Audio is just stock from the camera, its good while looking forward, gets a bit howling when you look to the side (not a huge concern), I might get a cheapo wind muff from amazon at some point.
>Sjcam
Don't know about them, I tried AKASO myself, and it looked pretty bad, plus the wind noise was INTENSE, like several hurricanes at once, would not recommend.

Japanese government offered extremely favorable loans to auto and moto companies to damage American industry, thatβs why the tariff only existed for five years, because it was a counter government action
Japan tried to do the same thing China has practically succeeded in doing, vis using government power to prop up its manufacturing artificially in order to drive international (ie American and European) competition out of business
It was so bad that many people thought a hot war between Japan and America was inevitable in the 20th century
All this until Japan couldnβt keep it up anymore and the asset bubble crashed.
This crash is exactly why people donβt take China as seriously as they should while they try the same thing. The Chinese are banking that the demographic and governmental differences between them and Japan will be enough to carry them to success where Japan failed.

Awesome hallucinations this thread.
Did you know CFMoto has a service interval life almost a quarter of any average Honda? Literally, the thing is such a baby that it'll explode (like Chinese Chairs and Buildings) if you aren't constantly filling it with oil and checking its cam tensioner because it's made with newspapers and jell-o pudding for its cams.
Even 80's jap bikes had service lives in the 15K-20K kilometer range.
Oh but if you tell anyone that Japanese bikes are superior, you get local chang (pretend canadian) (bleaches his skin for selfies) scream like he getting eaten by an escalator, an inherent fear of his DNA.

Is that why they're doing it now? Lmfao
Harley has never had better reliability than Japanese bikes. I'm sorry you're typing out walls and seethe and bullshit but it's true. Japanese bikes won where HD failed because they were better quality in every metric.
I'll post the shovelhead maintenance chart from that era of Harley that was competing with those Japanese bikes and the numbers speak for themselves: Harleys have THREE TIMES the maintenance intervals than your average Honda. 5000 miles vs 15k.

Iβm not defending cfmoto Iβm telling you why there was a 45% tariff in the 80s on Japanese import bikes
Today the tariffs are all over dozens of industries because the goal isnβt to shield specific American industries from japans strategy, but to shield virtually every American industry from chinas much broader strategy
Japanese did leapfrog Harley quality in the early 80s, precisely because of the very favorable government intervention on behalf of japans government.
IOW, Harley needed government help because its competitors had received government help. Similarly today American industry needs government help because its competitors (now in China) receive government help.

That's not the whole story. It lept Harley because they were in the market for cheap shovelheads that were made like paperclips that were being outsourced for parts even back then. Nobody thought Harley made good stuff by the early 80s when they were re-acquired, AMF had obliterated the brand's reputation as reliable work-horses.

If you push the rear brake down, and it feels like the rear brake is actuating, then it's probably not the brake fluid.
Tho honestly, in the time we've been talking about it, you could have got a screwdriver and some acetone, wiped away the dirt on the cover of the brake reservoir and checked it, pumped the brakes a few times to see if bubbles come out, and know for sure.
Pushing the brake and nearly nothing happening could also be worn calipers, brake pads, or grease that somehow got on the disc. Btw, do you have the year Honda Shadow that has rear disc or drum brakes? its old drum brakes would have its worn brake shoes make a metal-on-metal screech when you pushed and nothing was happening.
