when it comes to bimmerfags, a lot of them take off the Xdrive emblem specifically
I have no idea why; it's more expensive and they perform better so keeping them on would be more of a flex than anything

Badge removal on any high trim / performance car is usually done in order to disguise what you're really running. Usually for street / roll racing so that you can smoke people that think they can pick on you for driving an easy target, but sometimes also to trick insurance people, at least back in the day.

Worth noting that all of this only works if the car you're driving has an identical poverty-spec.

They came up with their own term since awd/4wd are used interchangeably when some of the systems are for 2wd with 4wd capabilities that you'd only use in the appropriate terrain
