glue them properly and they'll last
or just use vulcanising tape on the broken boot
Anonymous No.28676007 [Report]
I mean I'm sure someone who really knows will tell me I was playing fast and loose, but even just having busted ass torn old boots is better than no boots...so I imagine glued together whole ones are even better than that. Beats replacing racks and shit.

By the time you install that thing, the CV's already full of water, dirt and corrosion.

Yes, automotive engineers are all crayon munching retards.
Anonymous No.28676155 [Report]
I've just bought the slip on universal boots that you cut to size, that shit never holds properly unless it's a static one like in my Skoda that is bolted shut.

for the time and effort required to replace the boot, you could have replaced the entire axle and had a much more durable and permanent repair.

yes, because those do not have the same lifespan as a proper solid boot replacement which isn't even difficult to perform. You can do it cheaply these days with a Chinese pneumatic boot spreader tool. You just have to remove the CV axle to do it on both sides of it. If you can't perform this repair, you can use it to spread your asshole apart- because of how much of a faggot sissy bitch you are.

The full installed one is just a few $ more, and then you don't have to deal with forcing it out and in.

i know you though this was a witty reply, but if your shitbox is so clapped out with rust that everything is stuck, then it needs more than a boot replacement. time to buy a new car and stop living somewhere controlled by the salt cartel.

Thanks for reminding me to replace my gf's CV axles in her CRV. She literally didn't even tell me anything was wrong until I drove it and asked how long its been shaking on acceleration
>"oh for a while but it stops if you just step on it more"
ffs women treat cars like they treat blenders

>you could have replaced the entire axle
meanwhile, in reality
>hub is seized to the outboard splines from decades of rust
>if passenger side, inboard bearing is pressed into the carrier, also frozen in place by rust. bearing carrier and bearing needs to be transferred over to the new axle. hope you have room for a new 20 ton press!

Women are highly skilled professionals at destroying driveline and suspension components. Lucky for you, that CRV is on maccas, so it should be incredibly easy to rip the suspension apart. Be prepared to perform an alignment afterwards.
