MY DODGE CHARGER NEEDS $13,000 WORTH OF REPAIRS!! FUCK!!!!
Last month, After I totaled my Toyota corolla via a flat rear tire I went to a dealership and spent $19,000 of my savings and settlement money on a 2019 SXT Dodge Charger with a salvage title because I thought it looked cool. I've had it for about a month but i couldn't shake the feeling there was something wrong with this thing. Decided to take it to a dodge center and low in behold it's got a ton of fucking problems that made it through the dealerships standard. Now I dont know what to fucking do. Don't even want drive it. The cost of the repairs is more than the damn thing is worth. My homies tell me that the dodge center is just trying to fleece me on bullshit repairs but I dunno. Should I tow it back home and try to sell it or trade it? Should I pay for the minimal required repairs like front and rear brakes (it'll cost about 2k). Guys im scared I dont know what to do. If managed to sell it I could finance a better vehicle. God help me!!!

UK so I don't know the going rate for a lot of that work but it's seems mad expensive to me. This is like sub $1k in parts/fluids.
If you drove the car there can you not drive it back?

Sort in this order if this isn't a copy pasta I haven't seen.
Brakes if they're genuinely dire. Rust doesn't matter that much for now, thickness and pad material does.
Get an independent shop to sort the sway bar, bushing, control arm, motor mount issues. Guessing one/most of those issues are why you had an off feeling about the car.
Run a can of Seafoam though the intake if the throttle feels shitty/car has over 80k miles
Change your air filter
Alignment + tyres

But if you can't do the work, good luck.
Might be able to return the car.
Some states and countries have laws on that kind of stuff
Anonymous No.28682829 [Report]
they want you to replace most of the suspension because it’s old, tires, and brakes. Doesn’t mean they are bad yet. These are standard prices, and bear in mind most of the cost here is labor, but a significant part of the cost is marked up oem parts prices. Good tires are 800-1000 for 4, brakes are probably 500-600 on average for all pads/rotors, all the suspension crap is going to be around 1-1.5k unless you buy bottom of the barrel parts from rockauto. If you can wrench you’ll be fine, if not - don’t bother doing any of this stuff until brakes squeal or the pedal gets soft, then only do pads and flush brake fluid. Your car is perfectly driveable.

This is how you start to learn how to wrench.
Brake jobs, end link bushings are easy repairs. Buy some tools, find a garage, and figure this shit out.
ball joints and bad engine mounts is what would cause the shaking. you can still drive the car fine with that.
post pic of car and all the components mentioned.

How the fuck does it cost $560 to replace sway bar bushings? They cost $5-$15 each and it is two bolts on each one to remove. It should take a tech like 15-20 minutes to replace them.

i literally just did all this shit on my challly wally for about $500
sucks to suck lmao

things you don't need:
>diff flush
the stock v6 charger has an open diff so if there is grease in there at all you're good
>cabin air filter
very easy to do yourself, accessible thru the removable door in the passenger side of the windshield cowl
>intake cleaning
the pentastar has no EGR and is port injected, so the intake should be clean unless where you drive it is very dirty anyway. the throttle body can be cleaned by hand.

stuff you can do cheaper and get away with it:
>brakes
>tires

stuff you definitely want a shop to do
>alignment
>balljoints/bushings

I think he means the control arm bushings, but you definitely want to take your car to a place to get your tires installed and balanced. I don't think dealerships can even (legally) sell a car with tires that are that too worn out

So... Let me get this straight...

> Salvage Title Dodge Challenger - $19000
> Lower Control Arms bushings worn - 1586.62
> Stablizer bar worn w/ play - 560.98
> front struts worn - 1074.10
> upper control arms worn - 1410.11
> upper knuckle balljoints - 1337.50
> Brake fluid - 171.95
> Fuel system flush + TB + decarbonization - $329.95
> Rear diff service - 221.75
> Front brakes - 1145.68
> Rear brakes - 1051.26
> Alignment - 229
> Recall inflator - FREE
> Tire inflation - FREE
> Worn engine mounts - 1657.55
> Cabin air filter - $69.95
> Tire replacement - 557.22

I do not envy you. I sincerely recommend you learn how to do your own work. Start with the air filter, it will take you two minutes if the $70 price tag is anything to go by.

If you plan to sell it don't do any repairs. If you don't plan to sell it, repair as much as you want so that it's not a safety issue.
Don't do repairs and then sell it. The increased value on the car is almost never going to be the cost of repairs.

So you're in UK? If so, you can go to an MOT station and get all of that checked again to confirm what's really needed. And yes, those prices that 'le dodge center' gave you are like 10x of what they should be. They smelled the stupid in you. Fuel injector flushing is made up, a placebo; but you can DIY with $10 bottle of w/e shit they have at a gas station. And don't skimp on tires and alignment.
P.S. I was expecting a partial engine rebuilt from the title of your thread. But all of this is normal consumables so you can't sue the dealership, as you shouldn't be. I'd be pretty fucking pissed if some bloke tried to return me a used car because of tires or brake pads. It should be illegal to be autistic with IQ below 130.
Anonymous No.28685616 [Report] >>28685757
Yeah they’re just trying to fleece you. You could probably get all this done at an independent shop for <$5k. Most of this shit isn’t hard and could be done much cheaper yourself.

Brakes are very easy and brake fluid can be done by yourself if you buy one of those brake bleeder kits for $15. Hell you could just turkey baste the reservoir if you want to be lazy.

Control arms can sometimes be a bitch if they’re rusty and sometimes they’re hard to line up, but overall they not that bad. Ball joints are easy if you have a ball joint separator (like $30).

I highly doubt the sway bar bushings actually need to be done and same with the shocks. But obviously I haven’t seen the car, I’m just going off age.

Cabin air filter literally takes 10 min, including watching the YouTube video on how to do it.

I’d assume they’re right about the tires, but check yourself just to be sure.

TL:DR
Do the brakes and cabin air filter yourself. If you wanna be lazy pay an independent to do the suspension stuff.
