Do car guys genuinely like eurobeat or do they just like it because it was in initial d?
Honestly, almost every song in this anime sounds like ass.

Some of them are better than others. It's really no different than any other song featured in a series or a movie, if it evoked strong emotions then relistening to that music brings some of that emotion back. It also kind of got oversaturated to death which brings some annoyance.

you had to be there type thing
back when initial d was still hot, jdm cars were still cheap, and there was a very small amount of weebs with cool cars who would say "driving the togue" unironically. it brings back memories of my early 20's
id say it's like the millennial weeb version of dad rock. occasionally a song to bring back memories is cool but if you're still rocking a eurobeat playlist it's weird as hell. personally i have zero interest in it anymore, its too cringe

maybe it doesn't do anything for me because my first experience of Initial D was the manga with no music.

I still rewatch the very, very first scene on occasion with Spaceboy. To be a teenager again with a clapped foxbody driving with the windows down on a warm summer night...

Still plays on my head when I train my driving in my head.
I usually sit like I would in my race car.
Then imagine going through the race track in my car.
It's good for figuring stuff out.

Apparently pro drivers do something similar.
Although they've been doing it since age 8.

The battle between the 86 and the Evo IV is the peak of the series when it comes to music. Each track fits and leads into each other perfectly.

I hate initial D, but I love eurobeat. It's just 90s dance music about sex and cars, how can you hate it? The initial D soundtrack is mostly pretty mid eurobeat.
