Water/Rain Damage
Left a back left window open in the rain. I got the seat dry but the foam padding under the carpet floor is still quite moist. Been throwing desiccant packs on it and letting a fan blow on it 24/7 but it's still damp.

What are my options to fix this cheaply? Can I just cut up the carpet/foam and throw it out and let the back seat floor be bare? If it's not molded I could probably just leave it in the sun and attempt to gorilla tape it back in.

soak up what you can with towels
park in a garage, open the doors, and use a dehumidifier.
if no access to a garage or enclosed space, remove the driver seat and place the dehumidifier on the floor.
do not use powder.

>Put it in a location with less than 55 percent humidity and some ventilation
>Open all the doors/windows
>Sop up as much as you can with a bunch of bath towels
>Put some fans in the car and turn them all on
>Leave the car like that for 2 days
Your car should be good. Just make sure to do it ASAP or you'll get mold

that's a good idea, drive the car somewhere dry with the windows down

i've done that. find a cool dark area. pull the seats. use shop vac to get out most of the water. lift carpets and prop them up. strategically place fans to cirulate air flow, and move them every so often.

why has nobody suggest to let the car run and have the heat blasting? thats what i used to do with customer cars after shampooing carpets + seats, dries much faster
for him just crack the window where the water is and hope to fuck it dries since you got water down low

I've been leaving all the windows open during the day then running the heat/AC for a couple hours at evening before shutting it off and leaving a fan blowing on the main wetspot over night.

I've got almost all of it but there's a spot in the backseat floor that sponged up a ton of water and it's still wet.

Got a bucket of it and 3 hangers of it sitting in the car, they don't seem to be doing much though. Plan on leaving them in there for a month or so.

If you had picked up a dehumidifier you'd already be dumping out full containers of water and be done with it. You can find them in thrift stores if you're cheap, or just buy one and return it when you're done if you're cheap and scummy.

I ran a neighbors in it for half a day and it was hardly pulling out anything, as much or less than I've been seeing in the damprid bags. The only part that's still wet is the foam under the backseat floor and it's hard to get to, it's like a sponge that's covered by the carpet that's hard to pull through I guess.

I might try it again before cutting it if >>28687853 doesn't work.

Time and ventilation. Plus a little warmth

Just throw a heater in there with a dryer pipe or something to intake fresh air, and give somewhere for the warmed humid air to escape.

Ideally have it on a float charger with the key in it and the HVAC blowing on the floor to help circulate the air. It'll take a day or two
