That's actually another point of discussion - how realistic is it to supercharge a Toyobaru to at least 300 hp. How many supporting mods are needed it, how are the brakes, and the rest of the car handle it, can it even put it down without having to roll the rear fenders, etc.

At 30k, it just starts to make sense to put 15k. Yes, you lose that money forever, but you get a lighter car than the rest of the list, it's RWD, etc.

Of course, it's going to have literally worse gas mileage than the Rustang at that point, and it still might not keep up with it in a straight line. But at least it won't lose to the N and Yaris anymore.

Realistically, I don't think that's actually feasible. I bet the engine can't handle it. As I said, maybe it needs a straight 6 from the factory with brembos and wider rears.

Another side note to keep in mind is that everything FWD on that list really can't handle more power. CTRs and Ns already spin nonstop if they aren't on their stock summer tires, in the summer. They are the cars that you make you realize that there IS a hard-cap on FWD power. When driving an Si or GTI, that doesn't really click since they have spare grip on all seasons.

Can you explain why? Serious question. With nupra, you get your STOCK i6 with a shitton of power that's fairly reliable despite being a BMW. It can literally be chipped for an extra 100hp. You also get good brakes, a better interior, suspensions that can handle the power, and don't blow up the warranty if new. Again, for a literally $30,000+ price difference, those all might be worthwhile risks, but then you also get turbo lag on a car whose whole point is not to have turbo lag. And while the BMW idiot is an idiot and trolling, the 2.4 is already pretty maxxed out with the power it does make, so you would likely need to do clutch, bearings, fork etc and that's if you don't rebuild the whole engine. Just a LOT of variables. But then we come back to "lol 30k difference and toyobaru looks good as shit from the outside"

I just think it's a good candidate as a project car. Not a super expensive platform. If you blow a motor up it's expensive but not even really the end of the world. The aftermarket support is quite good. I would do a supercharged one maybe to 300 or 350 really pushing it. I hear of people going to 400 and I agree idk if it's that reliable. 2000 to 2008 are the best years imo, a lot of those cars have all modern stuff like electric doors and windows, heated seats, but still have the old reliable tested designs and hydraulic steering. But the further we get from those years the less examples of them there are. You basically have to get all the bushings and hoses redone if you want peace of mind and while the parts are still around.

If you are buying used you can't beat the C5/C6 'Vette, Cadillac CTS/ATS, or G37 IPL in terms of value proposition.
For newer vehicles, the s550 generation Mustangs have all the high notes; GT350, GT500, and Mach One are top experience drives amongst platforms in the same price bracket, and in that same vein, the Camaro SS 1LE or ZL1 as well.

This is what's going for it - the Supra and M2 aren't in stock and the M2 is by far the most expensive in this lineup.

If looking for a "real" sports car, aka RWD, this sort of barely beats out the CTR if you are willing to deal with the shit interior, soft suspension, and shit Nissan quality and insanely cramped engine bay (again, for it to be barely faster than a FWD in a straight line, while making 400hp).

Yes, it's on the list, but only because there is nothing else and the two king cars (Supra, M2) are either too expensive or unavaiable.

That's just not true though. The Camaro has way better handling than the Mustang, the problem is that it's discontinued. And that's keeping in mind that Mustang has handling that's up to par now.

No visibility is a complaint for a lot of the cars on the list, but for Camaro it's zero visbility. Then there is the GM quality aspect. Overall it's a great car that stays on the list since the newest ones are only a couple of years old.

C7 is actually older, but it's too much performance for the money to ignore used.

Nothing for cars with under 350hp, cars that don't need absolutely max possible acceleration, or people who don't want to drift.

1. When you accelerate (off of the line, but otherwise as well), the car puts weight on the rear, making rear wheels grip better. FWD cars have a hard limit on how much power they can put down without racing slicks. Which brings me to two.

2. You can't put fat-ass tires on the front without fucking with turning characteristics, you can in the rear.

3. Drifting, if you do that.

4. "Tires doing both accelerating and turning" and under-steer, which I am not going to get into since CTR out-turns a lot of the cars on this list while "understeering".
