Ya all those wealthy millennials who had kids in their early 20s whose kids are in college now. That was the really popular thing for millennials right? Having kids in their early 20s? And generally those are the wealthiest millennials too; the ones who focused on having families early.

I drive a 2020 4runner trd offroad, wife drives a rav4.

It's a great car but I am eyeing an A6 allroad or volvo v60 or v90 wagon for better on road characteristics that can still haul my bikes, camping gear, etc. but I like how the 4runner is simple and I can just drive it over anything/anywhere

2021. It was actually a pretty high price I think, because it had 80,000 ish miles on it and wound up blowing a coolant seal last year, but I had been looking for years and most cars I saw were badly modded or collector grade. Prices seem to have plateaued or fallen, going by BAT and Doug and bids. Nice original ones seem to be easily available under $40k, there were even a couple completely original cars that ended in the mid $30,000s.

Truth. For example, I make good money but I get paid twice monthly (not every 2 weeks). I also get a quarterly commission/bonus check. If I wanted to make myself look richer than I am I'd take a screenshot of my quarterly bonus and let it be implied that's my normal paycheck. It's not.

Also, my total "on target earnings" sounds great and it's not technically a lie to say what it is, but in reality I'm on a 70/30 split and so my salary is only 70% of my OTE and I've literally never once gotten the full 30% because targets are intentionally set unrealistically high by senior leadership.

Low earner anons, do not despair. Keep on your grind and don't get too stagnant.

Changed my life. Totally changed my distribution of stress.

Compared to when I was in the 25-45k income range, my job is now unbelievably more stressful. I have more flexibility in certain ways, but overall work more (I never did the multiple jobs thing some people do at low income though). It's incredibly mentally draining and I have less energy to do anything after work or on the weekend. That'd probably also because in getting inyo my mid 30s now.

Getting above $60k let me finally start saving real money, which let me get a down payment for a house together. I bought a cheap house in a cheap neighborhood and while there have been costs associated with that (water leaks, air conditioner replacement, etc) my monthly cost is lower than renting was. It sucks when expenses come up, but now I have the money to solve the problem without stressing too hard.

I eat out more now instead of cooking all the time because I'm wiped after work, and am more willing to pay to have certain things done instead of doing them myself (some auto maintenance stuff, certain home improvements). I have more money for hobbies. I spent some on dumb shit and got it out of my system and growing out of buying stuff just because I finally can for the first time and being more considerate about long term decisions.

Overall it's good and I'm grateful for it. I wouldn't willingly go back, but there are definitely tradeoffs and sometimes I am nostalgic for the more open ended "making do however I can" lifestyle but I don't miss being absolutely strapped for cash all the time. I love my shitty house because it's mine, I love not having to consider the multi-year financial implications of hobby purchases. I miss not being tied down in any way where I could just end my lease and fuck off to another city and shitty job at a moments notice.

I'm actually doing two jobs, both of which are software/IT WFH.
>job 1: 90k, started out as in office, went WFH due to covid, been that way since
>job 2: 112k: contract IT infrastructure job
took the 2nd job to get myself out of CC debt. The thing that got me (and probably most people in debt) is treating it as a math problem, consolidation loans, balance transfers etc -- without fixing the underlying problem of overspending. All you're doing is optimizing for how much you can borrow.
Over the course of my career my earnings went up, but my spending went up in lockstep; and apparently spending increased faster than earnings.

Point is that no matter what you earn, if you overspend/borrow, you'll have less disposable income than a wagie who's actually frugal.. And actually in worse shape since if you *NEED* to make a six figure income to service all your debts, you're in much more risk than someone who makes 50k/year but has no debt.

But yea, the 140k range is for a single male. Supporting a family on that without inheriting a house/anything else - good fucking luck. That's the real reason no one is getting married and birth rates a shit.

The difference is that in US people who earn 35k are some lowbotom niggers while in EU it could be someone after trade school or those with mid level uni degrees. USA is still miles ahed when it comes to salary and taxes.

The difference is, in the USA;
You die younger
Work longer
Less holidays
Less sick leave
More expensive education
More expensive healthcare
Less workers rights
Higher violent crime rate
Less happiness overall.
Tldr:the USA is pro business, the EU, Aus/NZ are pro people.

$160k at 26 here
I have a remote job, have a specialized skillset, and am really good at what I do, so I put in 5-10 hours of work in per week. My management and coworkers are none the wiser and have given me high praise at every performance review interval.
Total expenses are about $3k/month including mortgage payments, and if everything goes as expected I'll reach my first million in liquid investments at 30 even if I never get a raise. All I need to do now is find a loving wife; it may be a tough ask in the current climate but it's still possible

don't marry in a western country, keep grinding hit 2-3 mill in income generating investments then scoot to an eastern block or southeast Asian locale for a wife. Even then be very very selective and slow vet them, women everywhere are always looking for better and more it is universally built into them due to thousands of years of genetic selection based on a willingness to fuck the new conquerors in order to stay alive.

I'm 30 years old NEET with no social skills so I can't get a job with my severe social anxiety and hatred for humanity. All of my "skills" are useless shit like knowing how to use Linux, making HTML websites, playing the piano, and a little bit of wrenching like fixing timing chains, oil changes, basic shit. Unironically considering a McJob at this point. I'd love to have my own project car soon but that's like asking for GF at my age.
