I want to buy a car that's ~1200 miles away, and isn't really ready for a road trip of that magnitude.

How do I find a shipper that won't rip me off, and wont fuck up the car?

I know a guy who had his two project cars shipped across the country when he moved, and one of them got its roof all dented by the shipper while offloading from the trailer. I really want to avoid any kind of body damage - that's the main thing.

If not, then have the seller do a visual inspection of any external blemishes with photographic evidence. Anything you find upon delivery that wasn't there before is grounds for a slam dunk civil suit (or probably just a settlement if the shipping company is at all reasonable).

I don't have a vehicle that can tow a car carrier. My daily is a hybrid shitbox that's rated for 1500lb tow capacity. The car I want to buy has a curb weight of almost 3000lbs. So I'd have to rent a truck as well.

That's solid advice but it still doesn't help me actually find a reputable shipper. Is there any sort of aggregator or quoting website others have used in the past for this? I don't want to just Google and find a million random "sneeds auto transport" bubba tier outfits to have to sort through.

Chances are your buddy was on a semi trailer. Just tell the dispatcher you want a 3 car trailer. If youre not in a rush you can usually get an empty slot on a trailer passing by for about 500 bucks for tjat distance.

Honestly, your only real option is to get quotes and BBB reviews from whatever services you can find. Maybe you ask your local dealerships and see what they'd recommend

Try to get a smaller trailer.
My brother had a truck shipped 1,000 miles on one of those 2 car trailers
No problems after loading it up.

I literally just walked in hte door from picking up my S30 from hauler. They picked it up Wednesday 800 miles away and delivered it 15 min ago about 1/4 mile from my house. $800
You'll be dealing with a broker most likely (any of those websites that give you quotes) and you'll get inundated immediately with dozens of calls because it's just lead-generation services and all these people want your business.
This is just trucking and hauling cars, if your shit isnt running... they probably wont take it. If your shit is lowered and wont drive onto a trailer, youll pay more or they wont take it.
It's just a car dude, the fact youre asking here means you're not looking for premium, enclosed transport for your ferrari so dont worry about it. Just find one that meets your price (yuo can negotiate btw) and do it.
