Probably, Milsurp is still fairly okay in terms of pricing. Like a $250k Humvee can be bought for $50k from a broker, even less at a government auction.

People who finance at BHPH lots basically never make it past the first payment, so the dealers have to make enough to:
>Get it repo'd
>Detail the car again
>Repair whatever they somehow managed to fuck up in one month of ownership
If you're not ghetto trash, the vast majority of BHPH lots will be just as reasonable as any major dealership in terms of sticker prices and interest rates

I've owned several of my dream cars and currently own one, because I rotate through them as a hobby. Acquire, enjoy, and when the thrill is gone, sell.

I'll throw out some wisdom here that will likely fall on deaf ears, but here goes: after its all said and done, it's just another thing you have to take care of. It adds a layer of worry and expense to your life that may or may not be worth it. The thrill of owning fades quickly with familiarity.

This might sound crazy, but if you have the ability, rent exotics instead of buying them. Yes, there is a cost, but there is no worry and you get to experience a lot more cars that way.

Since I've had the experience of both owning and renting exotic weekend cars, I can tell you with confidence that when you figure in all the costs of owning vs the expenses of renting, it's almost even. Better to rent the McLaren for a weekend or two a month than have to have to worry how much that brake squeak or light that just popped up on the dash is going to cost this time.

Now the hack is to buy something cheap yet exotic. Something rare yet cheapish that normies love is a smart way to get all the fun of exotic car ownership without the expense. Anything with doors that go up (aside from the Tesla X) is a hit. Mid rear or rear engine, like the Fiat X19 or Baja Bug, people love clean examples. I know the Fiat has a rep, but I always wondered why enthusiasts didn't just put the time in to sort those out and enjoy. Fuck, do a Lancia Stratos conversion on one. Cheap exotic that will be a hit with everyone. Get a faded unloved fried egg 911 and polish it up, clean presentation counts for a LOT with people.
Some of the cars I've loved the most were kind of boring things. I had an old IROC Camaro that was my first project. I made that fucker look new again by learning how to polish and detail myself, put all new light housings on it, lowered it with a better suspension and overall made it look sharp as a tack.

Anyway, iykyk

This. If you intend to actually drive an exotic or supercar for more than 500 miles per year, then it'll depreciate just like any other car (except way harder because 30% of a million bucks is WAY more than 30% of 20-40k)
>buy something cheap but exotic
Only makes sense from a clout chasing perspective. In the sports car realm, cars that are cheap and common are either poverty rental-spec copemobiles or really damn good vehicles that you're guaranteed to have fun with.

I've made some posts in similar spirit - I've had an evo for 11 years, love it, but I question if I am inconveniencing myself to own it.

My main challenge isn't the lack of thrill, but the difficulty in taking enjoyment of motoring in general. Roads are so full of traffic, hazards, and police where I live.

Motorcycling is cheaper and more fun, but higher safety risk. I am a married, working father, so I am not able to simply dedicate one day per month to get out of the city and drive

I find myself very happy in my wife's brand new rav4 doing the speed limit.

I wish I could sit in my evo revving out the gears and smashing through sweepers, but it just doesn't happen. Even on the motorbike.

I feel like the ultimate fun is something like drifting a rwd shitbox on private property

I could afford a newer, more expensive car, but at this point, I really don't care. I don't think that you get what I mean

My local track is pretty good, but being on a track is very "technical", especially if you're autistic and want to drive like a racing driver. Concentrating on the right line, braking markers, maximising corner exit speed.

Race tracks AREN'T glass-smooth surfaces, and while you don't have to worry about oncoming traffic, you do have concrete barriers around you, as well as other retards in your session/group

I don't have a dedicated track car, very few people drive cars with over steer (or perfectly balanced). So yes, I'm working with understeering into corners - even in the rain on used, mid range tyres

My point is that track driving is not as FUN as a spirited cruise on a winding road

So you need to work on your alignment then, to improve turn-in and chassis rotation.

Increased turn in won't make it much more fun.
I'm just trying to share my lived experience that a back road cruise is more enjoyable than the track (and I shouldn't have to pay $400 to enjoy a drive)

Why do so many people think modifying a car increases it's value? It is only mods from a highly reputable shop that value increases

>Will you ever be able to afford the car of your dreams, /o/?
Probably not. Most of my top dream cars are museum pieces at this point. Untenable to actually drive regularly. Mostly just serve as financial assets for rich owners. Some so expensive that they're legally owned by a car club or estate so they technically have multiple owners.

Even the ones that are not so rare and used to be feasible to buy have become incredibly expensive on the used market in the last couple decades. And with the cost of living going up, they've become more unrealistic to own.

Both GP (car) and South (motorbike) circuit.

There are bumps to contend with.

I want to do a rally sprint event next, but they're even more expensive when you consider club fees and licencing

car of your dreams is a capitalistic materialistic cuck ideology. if you aren't after status like a faggot retard, you can buy anything, depending on your needs. just dont buy a new one. if you really wanted it you would get it. don't be lazy bum. but not zoomer cringe shit like a new M BMW, Porsche, etc. Having something like Bugatti as your dream is even more retarded.

hell if youre some benchmark racer you only need the initial cost of something like a B58, add a few grand and youve got a 700hp car.

btw if youre "into" cars and decide to save solely for particular models say costing from 10k to 40k and it takes you more than a year then you should drop this hobby particularly

maybe so but its a nice car
it was a 2021 C8 with about 90k km
regular a6 avant doesnt match it
a6 e hybrid avant is worse still
xc60, v90 cc, v60 cc, v90 t6, skoda superb, passat alltrack.... all of them fall short of the allroad, v90 cc being the closest match but alas out of production
even test drove a polestar 3 and while being comfortable and all its not a car i want

i think ill breathe another year into my shitbox auris pushing 280k km
