I think the CDX-88 is the GOAT late eighties early nineties era Sony head unit, but the reason I went with the CDX -5040 is because of the AUX connector, otherwise, I would have opted for something with a volume knob

Those Continentals are the cheapest way if you want a good, solid unit that's got a classic look yet has modern tech and is brand new.
They're really rock solid. They would sell like hot cakes if they had RGB LEDs so you could chance the color any way you want.
