Rumors are Mercedes wants to buy the B48 engine from BMW - four-cylinder engines in future models like the CLA, GLA, C-Class and E-Class starting in 2027. 35 years ago Mercedes-Benz collaborated with Porsche to create the 500E because BMW was producing much better cars and they couldn't catch up, specifically the M5 E34.
