I used to have old magazines as a kid in the 90s that were imported from Japan (local hangout spot near my school had them) and they had CDs of events and stuff and it seemed amazing. huge meetups in Japan full of yakuza when they still had some power, people just having fun and tons of money going around from when they made bank in the 80s bubble economy.

and they didnt have to worry about being "caught" on camera, because the camera footage was people with handhelds and then sold or shared to just certain people. it wasn't a million broccoli heads with instagram and twitch livestreaming open doing everything "for the gram" instead of just living in the fucking moment.
