It was a complete fuck up internally for what it’s worth. For some reason VW decided to leave development and production up to their business facing arm that does utility vehicles and stuff and they were completely inexperienced with a consumer facing EV so it was in development for way too long and so expense kept rising an they kept falling behind tech wise for the battery and motor and every year they didn’t have a car in production meant the cost to design and build the car was going up and the tech behind it was further behind Tesla. Finally VW just decided to make it a high cost rich boomer wife facing nostalgia fashion piece becuase it was too expensive to develop and sell at model 3 prices and obviously completely a joke in terms of range and battery at any price.
It’s a complete and utter disaster they’re trying to get some revenue back on.

I will say it seems like a nice experience to be in and drive. But of course it really isn’t a competitive product if you care about range and power. It’s purely a fashion piece/third car for rich people with nostalgia for the the old one.

My local dealers have these Bus EVs lined up and can't sell them.
They were marked up to $120,000 but now back down to $90,000
Still near zero sales.
I think I've seen 1 so far on the road.

My dealer gets more and more on the lot. The only one I’ve ever seen is driven by the dealer owner who’s obviously driving it bc it won’t sell.
They’re cool desu but like model 3 money cool not like Cayenne money. Sort of like the Phaeton but this will be EV junk that can’t be fixed in 7 years where as Phaetons are running solid engines on a Bentley platform.
VW needs to just do a hybrid beetle with the engine in the back and some actual cool afforded fun cars and quit chasing the pseudo luxury crossover market
