the cobalt SS was pretty good. I know this because I drove it in forza and it was pretty good.

I remember I installed an upgraded differential in the front and it fixed the understeer too. I don't know if it can work like that in real life

It is designed for the touge, as the "Downhill" entry. The Supra is the "Uphill" entry. Downhill gravity works in your favor, so you want lightweight and low center of gravity to take the turns at high speed, and extra horsepower/engine size is unnecessary. Uphill you need horsepower.to climb, meaning that the extra weight serves a purpose.

Also, comparing a turbo to a non turbo is retardation. Dropping a turbo into the 86 means it would leave the Cobalt SS in the dust. The Cobalt has already been pushed as far as it can go.

I am not surprised at all the Cobalt SS wins on the Borgar Kang. It's a high speed course and they used to fuck up nicer cars in roll races, I lost several races against them. The Miata is for teaching RWD and sliding corners at 20mph.

Lol I just glanced at the thumbnail. The same principle applies to the nu-86, it's just hundreds of lbs heavier.
These cars are under-powered and are for "carrying" speed through corners (or teaching RWD to noobs so they don't kill themselves with something with 450 lb-ft). A faster car can scrub off speed in corners then make up for the time (and more) with power especially with lots of long straightaways.
This shouldn't be surprising. The Cobalt is a straight line monster (was in the '00s anyway) and the borgar kang is a high-speed circuit. Wow, shocking and amazing.

Quarter mile isn't respective of speed on a long open track. Not for low hp cars. They are going faster than their trap speed over probably half of this track.

At the level of cars below super car tier, horsepower is going to be the deciding factor on most tracks let alone one like Nordschleife.

That said I am surprised that it beat it that much, not that 6 seconds or whatever with 2 different drivers is that much on a 12 mile track.

Don't forget gearing, which can be used to cheat 1/4 mile times.
The Cobalt SS has a top speed of 155 (limited) for the turbo version, where the GR86 is 140. The turbo allows the Cobalt to keep pulling at high speeds where the BRZ slowly accelerates over 80/90.
It's just not surprising. If anything I'd have expected the time difference to be greater. I'd pick the nu-86 every time because the Cobalt is a FWD understeery shitbox (which is why they all refuse to race from a dig).

Neither of those cars are even coming close to their top speed on the Nurburgring because of how slow they accelerate past 100 mph. You’re also ignoring the fact that Despite being on 15 year older tires it’s pulling similar skidpad numbers to the gr86, too. Give the cobalt modern tires and the gr86 gets gapped in every corner.

I also don't care. The nu-86 drives like I want a car to, the Cobalt does not (yes, I've driven one with methanol injection). It's really that simple. I have dozens of track hours under my belt, but I really care about powersliding and responsiveness on the street. I like using throttle in corners.
