Where do you see the automobile industry in 6-12 years?
Anonymous No.28702403 [Report]
more consolidation.
both in terms of design and brands.
basically what happened to smartphones will happen to cars.
in 2050 you will be able to choose between 3 brands that put out soap shaped bus sized SUVs that look EXACTLY the same.

I expect to see the top of the market move away from turbocharging to naturally aspirated parallel hybrids, as well as a move away from screen slop.
I expect business as usual for everything else.

Car culture kinda just dies and becomes more pay-to-play, so it becomes a hobby for the rich, like horse racing.

You'll get appliances but you really won't think about them at all.

Only the ultra wealthy will be able to afford cars.
Ice cars will be outlawed.
Everyone will be poor and forced to get around town using Chinese e-scooters.

If there's one thing not a single futuristic painter of yersteryear has predicted, it's how fat A-pillars got over time.

More vans, desprate push to autonomous, EV's being largely relegated to autonomous, and a massive consolidation of basically all non-toyota/Toyota aligned car brands.

AWD performance hybrids with gas RWD and electric FWD will be the default platform for mid-market sports cars. The E-Ray, GT3 Hybrid, and Revuelto are all great successes and their tech will trickle down
Four wheel steering will become relatively commonplace, and marketed to soccer moms as parking aids
Europeans will be universally range banned from /o/ because cars literally won't exist there anymore
Nissan will be dead, but its NISMO branch will be acquired by Toyota in order to build a god-tier Supra/Lexus F
Dodge will come out with a new V10, but the cars it's in will be over 5,000 lbs so nobody will care
Chevy will embarrass Ferrari (and everyone else by extension) in F1 until F1 makes the cars completely electric at which point viewer interest will completely disappear
Air-conditioned seats will become as popular as heated seats, if not moreso
The NE Miata will come out and be the exact same car as the ND but with 5 more horsepower

Ford will get very close to bankruptcy.
Stellantis will kill half of its brands, and reorganize the American arm so there are only two brands.
GM will continue making uninspired generic slop as well as pants on head retarded halo models.
A major merger will happen between at least 2 western/Japanese marques. I predict Ford and Volkswagen
