I can't decide what I want to mod first on my mk7.5 GTI
Cold air intake or a weighted shift knob and short shifter
I only have the spare cash for one
Anonymous No.28703300 [Report]

Suspension, exhaust, or tint should be the first mod besides getting some MICHELINs or VREDESTEINs
After changing all the fluids to RED LINE
Then charge coolers or intercoolers, oil cooler, blow off valve, inlets, new turbos, built engine
Then the short shifter
THEN maybe an intake

>Why would you get new wheels before suspension?
I honestly like the stock ride height. If I do anything to the suspension, I would replace the rear sway bar
>Why intake (useless) before exhaust?
Exhaust is arguably more useless. At least a cat back would be. It's just noise.
I could see an argument for a turbo back though. It's just much more expensive and I would HAVE to buy the stage 2 tune with the downpipe and probably also replace the clutch
>Why tune before supporting mods?
Stage 1 low torque requires no supporting mods. Only thing I would have to change is filling with 93 instead of 87

Most of that looks like paint transfer. Should come out pretty easy. If anything is gouged down to black, that's the plastic so it won't come back. But in any case a good compound should get the vast majority of that out easily.

almost all batteries are made by Johnson Controls nowadays. the part numbers might be different, but the battery is mostly the same. you should be able to easily find a replacement unless its some highly specialized car
if you went to the dealership they probably used OEM, so you’d have to look in the OEM parts portal

Just don't hoon with the lower octane and it'll be fine. It was very common even before computer retunes for drag cars to run pump gas on the streets and then switch to 110 or whatever for the track back in the day. And they would hoon the street, difference was traction. Street tires on untreated Street didn't put car under much load, timing and all that wasn't a concern.

3 or 4 years ago i had bolts come off one of the wheels on my car. i thought somebody unscrewed them at the time to fuck with me. until yesterday.
i was at tire shop and 2 bolts were broken on that same wheel. i dont think it is a coincidence, probably something faulty which is putting a lot of stress on the bolts. old tires were worn out evenly, car handles ok and after new rubber was put on the wheel was balanced and it was normal, nothing out of ordinary

im thinking of changing the wheel hub. it appears completely normal, but i dont know what else could cause this issue?

by the way, when i put a bolt in the hub without the wheel and screw it halfway in there is a little play there, like it isnt 100% fit, could that be the issue? maybe it was overtightened at some point and it damaged the thread on the wheelhub?
its minor and when wheels are in place and all the bolts are tightened it shouldnt make a difference in my mind, but im out of ideas

I can't see why they wouldn't be able to do that though I've never personally asked. Yes, it would be on a doorframe or door itself (although door itself is lest trustworthy do to people swapping doors) usually driveside. It is possible in not America they do things differently if you're not American. Anyway, those paint pen things are never all that good. Technically manufactures don't even produce the same color every time although close since they mix up different batches for a set number of cars, then mix up another so same year car might not totally match not to mention your current paint is weathered VS new paint won't really match. The pens though aren't really meant to match all that well, just enough to make a ding less noticeable.
A proper paint code will do miles better is my point. If you wanna go crazy, take your car to the best body shop you've heard of they'll probably have a guy with that eye I mentioned who can match it exactly but it won't be cheap. Also, just cause the sticker should be there doesn't mean it will. Idk why but sometimes they just be missing.

Running the car with loose lugs damages the lugs often breaking them. It's quite likely you had already damaged them before discovering they were loose. Play on the hub can be normal to not at all difficult to answer. 100% fix, new hardware and hub. Most likely fine, new hardware.

what kinda car we talking and where?

let me tell you from experience. i bought a 2006 pontiac gto when i graduated college in 2019 and was still living at home. i financed $7k at 2.5% for 3 years as a precursor to a mortgage because i had no credit other than my single credit card
it lived for 1.5 years in my neighbors garage, then 6 months in my parents driveway, then the rest of its life has been spent in my humidity controlled garage. it was a pain storing it for those 2 years and even the 6 months outdoors generated some surface rust on the underbody

it was a brilliant move because i can sell it for 1.5x what i paid for it, but in practically any other scenario a house will have a better ROI. my advice is get the house first, then get the car.
