Any idea what this round thing rubbing against my serpentine belt could be? Belt started squealing after turning so took a look and noticed this.

Is this bait?
Smells like bait.

Idler wheel.
Belt is no longer functioning.

Not bait. I don't know a lot about cars. The belt is working... I just took it for a drive. Are you saying it's a broken idler wheel?

Its only "working" because its temporarily riding on the remnants of the idler wheel.
The wheel is grinding into the belt, the belt is riding on the bearing that the wheel used to be mounted on.
You need to buy a new tensioner/idler (whichever it is) and a new belt.

Got it. Been researching more based on your last comment and that makes sense. Much appreciated.
