First Car
Hey /o/ I think about buying my first car. I want something electric that has enough range and charging speed to do long range driving. Basically able to do 1000km in a day with charging. What are the cheapest options? No I don't want a gasoline car I'd like to drive without noise and pollution and yes I am a europoor and willing to buy a chink car if it's minmaxing best.

Something with a carbureted V8.

This is like asking “what’s the best teaspoon for digging a hole?”

But it just has to be able to do
> 1000km
> 12 Hours
> Including Charging
which i know is reasonable. Won't be doing that every day but that would make once a year vacationing possible for me.

2002 polo with the 3-cylinder
it's stupidly quiet because the muffler is oversized for the engine

Stil requires me to poison my environment to drive in. Not an option.

Well you’d need something with like 500km per charge. Because 1000km is like the distance between San Antonio and Las Cruces NW and that’s like 9 hours of driving.

I think the Tesla model 3 long range is the only thing that meets that criteria while still being a somewhat affordable car.

You'll poison the enviroment more by having your car shipped from China than you will in 400k kilometers in your Polo that's already there.

No i don't think so.
1000km at 120kph is 8.33 hours of driving.
Make it 9 hours with average speeds being a bit lower.
That leaves 3 hours of charging in 12 hours.
So starting with a full battery and ending on an empty one would allow for a charge of 30 minutes for every hour of driving, roughly.

Do you only plan on charging your car with electricity from nuclear plants or something?

It's not a bad argument, got to be honest. So no chink cars and i'm actually going to consider it
>>28703763
Yeah and from solar (50% of our energy mix is solar) and from powerplants that have giant filters compared to cars.

Yeah I highly doubt you’re gonna average that. That SA to Las Cruces drive is about 9 hours of driving for me and Europe is no where near as desolate as West Texas.

I remember driving 800kms in 5 hours with my father on the autobahn as a child. It's not unusual to do 200kph on german autobahns.

You also have to remember range estimates are under ideal conditions. If you’re going 75mph you very well may come up short of the advertised range which could be based off a lower speed like 60mph.

And how did your fuel economy compare to the EPA (or whoever) estimate?

It is unusual for electric cars to do 200 km/h in general, let alone without losing half the range.

Oh yeah for sure! WLTP is such bullshit. I'm only going after people on youtube driving the cars and showing the actual kwh/100km on the autobahn. That's usually realistic.

Most of the modern smaller electric cars do between 12-16 kwh/100km@120kph making real range estimates easy to calculate.

i'm sure they were terrible, but it was a company car so I doubt my dad cared.
>>28703784
True but my estimate >>28703709 is much less. I think that those are realisitc numbers for a small electric car. At least the new Huyndai Inster can definetly do those, propably more.

4 cylinder hybrid is the only thing that will give you that kind of range. On mine I get about 800km to the tank but it's a mild hybrid and doesn't plug in.

I had an Omega B with an LPG install like 20 years ago, when you filled both tanks up you could go 1000+ km easily.

That's just poorfag cope, and Big Oil FUD.
The firm I work for runs a fleet of Teslas and our sales team drive all over the country in them.
Most get about 400 miles on a full charge and our fleet management system confirms this.
In the real world Teslas have pretty damn good range, as well as performance and that improves with updates and as new models arrive.
The team love them, and they could choose an ice if they wanted, but literally nobody wants one when they have the choice.
What it looks like is the only people who are upset about EVs are the ones who are enturbulated about not being able to afford one.

You're full of fucking shit, rental companies literally are losing money on EVs because they depreciate so fast and burst into flames every week.
I haven't met a single person who prefers the soulless EV driving experience over a good old ICE car. Good luck with charging when electricity companies drive up their prices lol!

The most environmental option will always be a smaller and lighter vehicle, especially a second-hand one. If you really care about the environment, you should ride a CB125. But if you absolutely must have a cage, then an old Suzuki Swift or something will absolutely be better in terms of lifecycle impacts than a new BYD.

But that said, the same logic does also apply to used EVs. If you're willing to give up your idiotic idea of road tripping in one (just rent a diesel for your one trip per year), then you can get used EVs with about 50-80km of range for pretty cheap. Leafs are the default option, but you might be able to find something else like an I-MiEV or an i3 if you look around.

If you won't consider these options, you're a hypocrite who only cares about virtue signalling rather than your actual environmental impacts.

Used Teslas are your best bet if you want hassle free EV. Otherwise, you'll be having a rough time.
