Just got this photo from my mechanic. Would these be considered leaking or weeping struts?

shit is fucked son, or will be very soon.
struts are very easy to replace, figure it out yourself.

Boot's gone and once fluid starts coming out it doesn't go back. Replace em like the other anon said. If you do it yourself probably the most special tools you'll need are a breaker bar and some larger sockets.

Yeah I’m thinking I’ll just rent a garage or something. Mechanic quoted me $1,300 for just replacing the full assembly of my rear struts for my 2005 camry and my gut was telling me that I was being ripped off.

I’m in Denver
My friends really only do paint jobs, but I don’t think they tinkered with the bones of a car as far as I know

you can buy a fully assembled strut assembly from Rock Auto for your model, and simply swap them in.
no need to compress the spring.
you would only need to deal with rusty bolts, and stripped end link bolts

even if you buy OES and replace mounts, which is what I suggest, it won't be too challenging to replace once you get a coil spring compressor. you can remove the entire unit without one, build the new one out of vehicle, and then get it in there. biggest issue will be rusted bolts and snap city. maybe get a torch in advance if your hardware looks like shit

>$1300
Fucking lmao. These dumbass mechanics wonder why no one likes them and the industry is dying. What a joke.

two decent fully assembled drop in strut assemblies: $250
hours to swap: literally one, with basic hand tools and a jack.

Go somewhere else, when I got 2 new struts on my accord it was like $150 for a pair of monroe quick struts and $150 labor
