Boot's gone and once fluid starts coming out it doesn't go back. Replace em like the other anon said. If you do it yourself probably the most special tools you'll need are a breaker bar and some larger sockets.

Yeah I’m thinking I’ll just rent a garage or something. Mechanic quoted me $1,300 for just replacing the full assembly of my rear struts for my 2005 camry and my gut was telling me that I was being ripped off.

So far, I have some torque wrenches, breaker bar, socket set, screw drivers, jack w stands, ratchets and I plan to get a coil spring compressor soon
I drive a 2005 camry with 243k miles

you can buy a fully assembled strut assembly from Rock Auto for your model, and simply swap them in.
no need to compress the spring.
you would only need to deal with rusty bolts, and stripped end link bolts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdoJQfoHARw

even if you buy OES and replace mounts, which is what I suggest, it won't be too challenging to replace once you get a coil spring compressor. you can remove the entire unit without one, build the new one out of vehicle, and then get it in there. biggest issue will be rusted bolts and snap city. maybe get a torch in advance if your hardware looks like shit
