Indian labor is more competent than Chinese when it comes to manufacturing, especially if it's Japanese technology. Japanese companies can't really make in Japan due to labor shortages there. Especially with anti-immigration sentiment rising, India is the only logical choice.
It also aligns well with Late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's idea of Free and Open Indo-Pacific and diversifying away from China.
