I wouldn't mind the hybrid part or the not fast part if they'd at least given it a manual like Honda themselves had done for the gen 1 Insight, gen 7 Civic hybrid, and CR-Z. Still eternally disappointed in Honda for refusing to leave their FWD shitbox comfort zone and just make something RWD again. There's obviously a market for it when S2gays are new car money. I don't know if I can forgive Honda for refusing to even try to sell the S660 here.

Apparently it pretty much simulates the v6 (whatever engine any journo will quote it) they based it around accurately. How about a car that could change From Trabant to F150 to La Ferrari in sound and driving style with a fiddly menu selection. Some say Honda might be on to something.

What Honda has essentially done here is shit into their own hand and then wiped it all over the legacy of the Prelude. If this thing had actually embodied the spirit of it's namesake I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I was so excited for this thing, and the more info that came out about it, the more disappointed I became. Now I'm not even disappointed any more, I'm just disgusted.

This sounds so lame. I wish they had actually gone full electric drive with range extending ICE. The engine emulation R&D should've gone into a more adventurous 4WS system and individual wheel torque vectoring. Maybe we can hope for a more interesting trim level in a few years, but chances are this flop won't sell and they discontinue it. I'd be disappointed, but I already have a 3rd gen I love.

I still hope people buy it though. It's obvious that it's not a true enthusiast-centric model, let alone a sports car (it never was). It's also pathetic that it barely even has more power than the previous model 25 years ago (normies don't know this). It's also pathetic that it fakes gears (normies don't know this).
I'd still rather be surrounded by normies commuting to work in what I see as a normal economy car in the Prelude over the alternative, however. Everyone (rightfully) complaining about it is just going to doom themselves to be surrounded by an endless sea of jellybean-shaped crossovers until the end of time. I'll take seeing these over ever having to see one more HR-V on the road ever again.

I don't think this thing would be nearly as hated if they had at least shoehorned a manual option into it like they did with their previous hybrids. People would still be complaining about power just like with the CR-Z, but they would at least have a more "engaging" option for the enthusiast (autist) that just wants a funky, efficient daily driver.
